i talked to a guy who bought an 04 brand new, and needed a new trans with 9 thousand miles on the truck. 9 thousand miles is all. he was either driving it like it was a mustang, or something was out of whack from the factory.

im a big advocate for changing fluids before ford says they are due to be changed. at 50k my trans filter and pan didnt look too clean, it defiantly wasn't ready to truck on to 160k for its first change. when i do my diff fluid this summer it will probably have between 60-80 k on it and im sure it wont be as clean as ford planned on it being.

I wonder about this too. Now we all know there are some whack jobs out there that would obviously be upset with ANYTHING they bought. I've read Many posts from these guys. You know what I'm talking about.

There are also people who obviously have never owned a Truck before. They stick out pretty clearly. Complaining about the Bumpy ride, or how the wheels squeal in tight turns when they opted for a Posi-traction rear end, etc.

I'm not saying my truck has been perfect. But it is a Mechanical pc of equipment. Things Do happen.

Can you seriously dis on a Ford truck because a Switch broke?

My Floor rugs stained. I hate Ford.

A 187,000 miles on my '05 and absolutely no regrets, best damn truck I ever bought. I love this thing!!

Don't regret it at all. I do wish I had it paid off (only owned it for 15 months so far). Also wish I could drive it more often (I live 300 yards from my work office, and we take the wife's 'stang on long trips). More than likely, if I move farther away from work, I'll get an NGV (natural gas vehicle) or a cheap high MPG car for commuting. I do hate paying for a vehicle that I don't use though...Oh, and if I were to buy it again, I'd opt for the fx4 look (I like the solid color, and no chrome) and ditch the 35" tires. When it comes time to replace, I'm going to an 18" rim and 33" tire (not so wide either, currently running, I believe, 325/60r20). No rubbing, just lousy in the snow. But absolutely no regrets on the buy. I love this truck!

i hate to say I am not happy. My 2005 only has 53K miles on it and i have replaced 2 window regs, one throtle body, and just this week had to have the TB (replaced 8 months ago) cleaned along with the injectors, oh and one injector failed. But come on I only have 53K on this thing! I am thinking about (don't flame me) a tundra because they will give me $15K for my 4x4 lariat. Which seem too high.

I am really afraid that the tranny will go out. I love this truck but I don't know if I trust it.

help

Absolutley not! Love mine. Wish the window seals were not so noisy when rolling the window up and down but that's it. Solid truck that has tolerated everything I've thrown at it.

No Regrets I purchased My 05 Supercrew Lariat 4x4 brand new it's got 86.000 miles on it now other than routine maintence Had reflashed when new for Transmission harsh shift,1 stuck injector (warranty) Driver's window regulator,Repair wiring for power windows at driver's door,2 Front Brake Calipers,If I had to replace it today it would likely be another Supercrew 4x4 but it would be either a 6.2 V8 or 5.0 V8 would NOT go Ecoboost would buy another brand 1st,2nd choice would be a F250 (Gas Only) or a Dodge 2500,3rd choice would be Chev/GMC

My '07 FX4 was purchased August 2009 with 35K or near abouts showing. Today she has 41K showing .... I love this truck. No problems at all. :)

I sometimes regret it due to having a truck payment and lack of power in the 4.6. I could have had a '79 with a 400 big block for $1500 before I found this. Kinda wish I had bought that and turned it into a project vehicle and kept the Escape I had. No payment then.

I now have 32,000 on my 2011 purchased 8/7/2011. No problems so far, love the 5.0. My only regret buying the 2011 was having to sell my 2005, loved that truck. I still don't like the look of this new body style over the 2004-2008, but I do like the extra interior room, the 6 speed and the engine.

Aside from wishing i could bought a 250 and diesel but thats it. My rear door seal is leaking water in and it looks fine. Idk what it is but since this truck has been so good i dont mind buying a new seal

tg150 07-13-2012 11:29 AM

No regrets and very minor issues, hopefully it stays that way. But then again I've only got little over 20k on my 04.

kcward 07-13-2012 05:09 PM

I kinda do!...

Ive had alot of work done under warranty, It had to be towed twice while I was still making payments on it, and the best fuel economy it has ever gotten is when it was on the tow truck!

Other than that, when its running good its comfortable, and looks nice...and was about $10k less than the Tundra I was looking at...

It has only left me on the side of the road once, but has screwed up two trips because of it breaking down...

Actually as I think about all of this stuff, I do regret buying it!

Regards!

only regret I have is not getting one back in 98! (or ever for that matter) I was always a Jeep guy but after decades of Jeeps it was time. I cant see my self driving anything else well maybe a F250 but that may come later.

Maybe, I have a 2005 FX4 screw with the 5.4. And up until this year, no real problems just routine maintenance. But 2 months ago the vacum leaked and I had to have the 4wd actuators replaced, air boxes and new vacum lines. Now 2 months later I have the ticking noise from the exhaust manifold leak. Truck looks like new becuase of the way I keep it, only has 55K miles on it. I am a little disapointed and wonder whats next? All of sudden seems like one thing after another. My previous vehicle was a chevy tahoe with the 350v8. Had it for 10 years, when I got rid of it, it had over 100K miles on it and never had anything really go bad with it. No 4WD problems no exahust issues in fact it still had the original exahust from the engine all the way back. About the only things that I had to replace on the Tahoe was a water pump around 60K, and the fuel pump at around 100K. Don't get me wrong, still like the ford, but just think it is costing me too much in repairs, especially in the last few months.
