I regret not getting a diesel, but then again I never wanted a 150. I wanted a diesel for the better fuel mileage and the longevity, but my dad just thought they were "loud and smelly," and since he co-signed, I had to go with what he wanted. Now I am stuck with a truck that can't go off roading and has a weak gas engine. Oh well, I am getting a new bike in 2 months and then the F150 won't leave the driveway for another 6-8 months.

PS as far as loud goes, I will be putting on cut outs in a few weeks, so he really lost that battle

No regrets here except for that I would have gone with the 6.5' on my screw. I have been through having a new rear end put in at 72,000 miles. One of the plugs broke and stuck in the head at 80,000 miles. Lastly the tranny was toast at 102,000 miles. I bought the truck used in 07 with 68,000 miles so the dealer installed brand new gears for the rear at no charge to me under their 12K 12 month warranty. They didn't charge me the extra money for the spark plug fiasco as I gave them a heads up and they even gave me a loaner car for the week it was down. I was out the money for the tranny but I went with a reman Jasper that the shop told me ws beefier with a better valve body than the stock. Next big thing could only be the engine to go ! I still do not look back now and regret not buying it

Nope. I kind of wish I had the 5.4, but I don't won't to deal with the problems that come with it.

x4 The 4.6 can be gutless, but I was scared away from the 5.4.

I hate the 4 speed trans, it's never in the gear I want it to be in.

I wish I got the 3:73 LS instead of the open 3:55 and wish I got the manual 4wd shifter over electronic.

I regret some of my option I choices, but do not regret buying the truck.

I wanted the suicide doors (scab), not 4 full doors, so my only full size options were Ford and GM. Edit: Now that I realize it, the Titan came w/ the suicide doors too, didn't it? I never really considered those for some reason. I've heard the 5.6 in the Titan is awesome, but they have a weak (for a 1/2ton) D44 rear axles and weak brakes. No 1st hand experience w/ them, though.

Back in '08, I test drive a 5.3 Chevy, had some serious power, but I preferred the overall feel of the Ford.

My dad has an '08 4.7 Tundra. More powerful (than my 4.6) and better trans (5 speed? vs. 4 speed) IMO.

My work truck is a 2.7 Tacoma. You can't compare mini trucks w/ a full size IMO

I chose the Ford b/c overall, it was the better truck and the one I liked the best/fit my needs. I had no brand loyalty going into this, I used to drive a Jeep (an AMC Jeep, not Chrysler Jeep)

The only time I've ever regretted getting my '05 was the time I test drove a '10 and realized how much better the new six-speed transmission makes these trucks feel off the line! But I guess that's always the risk you run with vehicles -- four years later there's some improvement that you wished was on your current vehicle.

If I could go back in time to when I ordered my '05, about the only thing I might do is change the color I specified -- I'd probably go with the Dark Torreador Red instead of the Medium Wedgewood Blue that I got.....:fyi:

I have owned dodge and drive chevy at work. I own my ford because it drives and turns great! However ive been through a transmission, rear end, broken exhaust, a spark plug broke when changing, got paint flaking around the gas cap, the windows are slow and im scared to use them. Now my rear end feels like its going again. I've almost had enough of this. its only got 75K KLMS on it! Im not hard on my truck at all. It has never left me stranded though. Ive always been able to get it to the shop. However all that being said I would buy a new f150.

fivespeedsteed 02-09-2011 09:25 PM

the chevys dont feel right to me. all fords and gms have their own brand specific feel to them, i can tell it instantly. whether driving my grandpas impalla or the work delivery colorado, i can just tell im in a ****ty chevy. the 5.3 vortech backed by the l460e trans is a killer combo powertrain wise, but i wouldnt trade it for my ford any old day. call me a dumb redneck, i just love a ford.

Halverso_99 02-09-2011 09:50 PM

Nope. And i can honestly say i prefer my 99' F150 even over my dads new 2011 Sierra 3500HD Duramax.

I have owned over 30 vehicles (Ford, Dodge, GM, Jap), and I have only owned 1 vehicle over 1 year before this one (05 F150 Scab) and it was an Explorer ( I miss it!), I have owned this one almost 4 years now and love it as much as the day I bought it! This is rare for me as you can tell I get bored with them or in some cases sick of fixing them(GM), That sucks to here all the problems you've had but Fords are by far the most reliable in my book.

If I didnt have my truck I'd like to try the Dodge 1500 but ive heard too many bad things so 2012 F150 it is! (next year)

I traded in a 2004 reg cab Hemi ram 2wd. LOVED it. Really Fast, rode good, Had an air conditioner that would freeze your balls off. My f150 is slow, doesnt ride as good, and the AC is not as good. But I do love the supercrew...have kids now (the reason I traded in the reg cab) I love the 4wd, especially in the winter. I love the looks better, inside and out. I wish I could put the Hemi engine in my truck, then I would be set.

2005 King Ranch 4x4 5.4 3.73. Ran 325/60/18 on a 2.5 AS leveling kit from about 10,000 to 60,000 miles. Got a Gryphon and 35's little over a year ago and currently have 78,000 miles. I have no regrets. Only problem I had was at 73,000 miles...tranny had to be re-built. It would have cost $1,200, but the dealer covered it for me, as my 60 months had just BARELY ran out. All I had to pay was $100, and that was with my K&N installed and 35's on too. I didn't hear any slack. I have given this truck its fare share of hell, and I have a 23.5' deck boat that ways close to 9,000 lbs loaded, that I pull almost every weekend in the summer. This has been one great truck, just as was the 2000 F-150 with the 4.6 I had for 5 years. I love me a Ford, and thats all I will ever buy! :rocker:

NEVER regret!!!!! TRUE to the blue oval!!!!!!!! I've owned Ford trucks since I was 18 and I can say I've had the BEST of luck with every one!!(hope I didn't just jinx the new 10) I can even say my 09 Fusion is one hell of a car.

Silver04f150 02-09-2011 10:26 PM
