My 05 has 95K miles. Been towing the camper since new and recently bought 16' enclosed trailer.I tow the enclosed full of atv's and drive three hours to the cabin. And haven't had any problems to date.(knock on wood) I don't have the problems like everyone is having. The only mods done to the truck are bbk 80mm tb,and can tow tune. And the days I drive it to work, I drive it like I stole it.

yeah i gotta figure out how to get a better sound clip.

see one person says normal and another says phasers. i dont think its phasers, its not a knocking sort of noise, its just a ticking. if anything i was thinking exhaust leak or lifter

That does not sound like a loud knocking really, not enough of a knock for cam phasers.

Mine has always made the injector noise and sounds a a little loose, maybe, but it has sounded thesame for 121,000 miles and runs great, does not use oil.

I had a semi-loud tick that seemingly got worse with the warm temperatures and pulling decent loads all last summer. Took the truck into the dealer and it was an exhaust leak. The right side manifolds like to warp from what my dealer told me. They replaced it under warranty at 60k and sent me on my way in about 2hrs. Only injector noise can be heard at idle now...

i just now listned to that video i made, you can sorta hear it at :35 and then around :40.

im really beginning to think that its an exhaust noise, i can hear it more when im driving on a road with a curb next to it.

mxzeatr thats good information, i might have to call around to some dealers and find some that know a decent amount about 3 valves and see if i can get them to listen to it.

my 07 lariat supercab 4x4 has 121,000 and the 5.4 with an edge evo tune with a k&n drop in and i've had no issues at all, the 5.4 in her ticks when warm but its not noticeable really so it could even just be the injectors. But boy she runs great and off roads great, just stay away from huge mud pits.......takes me 2 hours to clean all the mud off under it lol
