ha funny you ask, we started tack welding today.

3/16th for the main bumper and probably 1/4 for the mounts, that seems to be what all the big companies do.

the 8x4 sheet of 3/16th cost $207 after tax. we've only used about a third of the sheet though so far and all we have left is the bottom part and supports. i think w will end up using about half the sheet or a little more.

btw bring a buddy to get the sheet cause it weighed 240lbs.

also a little update of the work we did today.

got the other side tacked up but we need to cut a few more pieces out then mount it up on the truck and do the bottom.

oh and a few pics of my shop that we call the shed as requested.

i might use 1/8 inch on mine havent decided so that will help with cost and did you just get a trailer or did you put the sheet in the bed

if you could find a sheet a little smaller than 4x8 it would help too. im not sure though if thats like a standard size that they sell them in.

i just put the sheet in the bed, i have a short bed and with it pointed down towards the cab then resting on the tailgate on the other end only about 2ft. hangs off the truck. its so heavy it won't go anywhere.
