Help! Dead 2004 F-150 fx4 4x4
Yesterday while driving 65mph on the hwy, engine just died. When I went to restart all power is there just; will not start.
The Vehicle:
2004 F-150 4x4 with a 5.4L automatic.
170k has been running great.
has k&n intake,
35" Nitto Mud Grapplers
OBD2 connection has power but when scanner is plugged in it errors out We have tried 3 different scanners all have same error while thrying to connect to PCM.
Battery is fully charged.
Cigar Lighter fuse is good (power to obd2)
PCM relay is good..(switched with working relay from fog lights)
When turning the key to start everything is same as when it did start but starter does not engage nor do you hear the fuel pump.
Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Mark

Thanks Everyone,
After discussing with a ford service tech, he said I should look for a electrical short in the coil wiring going to the COP. He said there has been numerous problems with this on the passenger side between cyl 3&4, from the air conditioner hose rubbing on the wiring.
Well, could not see anything so I took it to the dreaded ford garage here.
Sure enough, Wiring between COP3 & COP4 had shorted out which cleared the PCM.
Simply repaired wire and reflashed PCM and it runs again.
$160......
Thanks Everyone for the help...
I guess sometimes you have to go to dealer after all...lol
