Third Brake Light Question/Issue

I recently purchased an LED Third Brake light. I'm not sure if the construction is just junky or maybe I'm missing something. I pulled the factory harness out, to the grey plug and plugged my new lights in just as you would a set like recon or hella.

The issue comes when the brake lights are hit. No light output results when brake pedal is depressed. The courtesy lights work fine (two outside lights). When the courtesy lights are on and the brake pedal is depressed the whole third brake light goes out.

I'm not sure if there is an issue with the system that I am missing that is common or the brake light is just junk. I asked the seller, but also wanted to post up here to find out if any others had issues similar they were able to resolve.

Did the factory one work? Did you hook up a test light to the plug and have someone hit the brakes? If all this works I would say its a faulty LED. All the ones I've seen are plug and play.

Stick the LED in one of the cargo light sockets, see if it works there.

You did pull it out and turn it 180 degrees, just to check polarity, right? Because polarity matters for LEDs.

The light has built in leds. You pull the harness out to whre the bulb harness plugs into the square grey plug and plug in there. The factory light is working fine so im thinking it is something to do with wiring on he led third brake light I received. I guess I will wait and see what happens with the dealer, if I don't get anywhere with them I guess I can take it apart and see what the wiring looks like.

Ah, so this is the entire assembly? I was picturing just the "bulb".

That does sound like a manufacturing flaw.

Yeah it's actually the whole assembly. I'm not sure what the deal with it is. Seems quite odd to me.
