I wire brushed the bottom real good and then smeared a good coating of grease on it.

I put it back in with M6 x 1.0 x 40 bolts. Mine had the regular head on them, so I put a M6 lock washer, M6 washer, and then a M8 washer under the head. Then the module flange, then between the module flange and the cross beam I put a M8 washer (so it will slip freely over the M6 bolt) and a couple washers.

This spaced it out a good 1/4" or so... hopefully this will keep it from corroding to the point of failure.

I think this thread needs to be a sticky!

Check your modules now to save 150 bucks (or more since you'll probably need to be towed when it dies)

Thanks to Tbear and the others for letting us know about this issue!

Anyone in here interested, I'm pretty sure I've seen it on this site, but the part numbers are:

4L3Z-9D370-A

Which is the whole kit, including the new mounting bolts. The mounting bolts alone are part number:

4L3Z-9D370-ASUB

my local dealer couldn't order just the bolts... see how "SUB" is in the PN and the other digits match the module... this comes as part of the module PN.

I was quoted $162.50 for the whole kit.

That's about what I paid, too. I bought the whole thing.

Thanks MGD!

Wow, looking through here tonight (I've been away awhile) I see a bunch of threads now about Fuel Pump Driver Modules (FPDM) ...
... some catch it ...
... and some didn't and had tows.

I didn't even know the thing was under there untuil I read that Tech Article and that got me to looking, saved me a bundle too!

These internet forums sure have saved me a bundle over the last few years. I've always done the vast majority of maintenance and repair on my personal vehicles, and even some on my police cars helping a buddy at his shop and learning. I enjoy saving, and preventing a expensive tow and repair is a joy.

I recall when it was points and plugs every 10K and 100K was "high mileage". These things today will easily double that with modfern materials and roadways and lubricants and lead free fuels ..... but when stuff does go bad it can get expen$ive!

I had mine changed at the dealer for 117.00 plus 60.00 of labor. Not bad in my book, only problem was mine failed on the Mackinaw Bridge pulling a 22' snowmobile trailer with 4 sleds and 4 guys in the truck...Awesome.

I just got back from Tasca & had them replace my old corroded 07 fuel pump driver module! Boy was the underneath of that module corroded! Installed the updated one for $48.50 labor. I bought the part from www.tascafordparts.com the previous week for $89.00. Boy I am glad that I caught that before I have begun my trips this summer pulling the Harley Motorcycle trailer!

$89.00? Guess they've been in demand. I paid $77.24 July 2010 from tasca.
48.50 is a fair price for labor. Took me about 10 minutes to change and 15 minutes waiting for the spray paint to dry.

Well I better check the back of mine since my truck first lived in Michigan.
Sounds like it's squirrel season...
