Painted headlights and night shaded fogs

Had this week off so I decided to give it a shot. I figured worst case, if they were messed up, I could get the recon projectors.

Removing the headlights and fogs was simple and straightforward.

Got everything ready and let the lights sit inside before applying heat.

I followed an instruction on here and put a piece of cardboard under the light in the oven. I would NOT recommend this. Either my oven is much hotter than the other or there was something on the cardboard. It produced a great smell (sarcasm) that filled the house for hours. Luckily, my wife was at work. I did the remainder of the work with the light sitting on an old baking sheet.

The lights are finally apart. If I were to do this over again, I would remove more of the old sealant as it posed some problems upon assembly later.

Here it is after assembly. I used the nightshades on the reflector and Krylon satin black on the headlight. I let this sit for about 18 hours before removing the strap.

Here is a nice before/after comparison

Overall, I'm happy with the results but there are a few things I would do differently the second time around. The next step is a recon smoked led 3rd brake light and red smoked led tails.

Nice job. How's the light output from those fogs, they look pretty dark?

I did mine and they don't shine any brighter than the turn signals LOL. Maybe when I get HID's in my fogs too they will be brighter. The factory bulbs have a coating over the tip of the bulb blocking the light. The painted buckets don't reflect much at all.

I got a chance to test out the lights today and the fogs are way too dark. No big deal though as I don't use them anyway. The light output is pretty good for the silverstars though.

Looks good Nick! I'm surprised you got those head lights apart!

Its too bad you niteshaded for fog lamp lenses.. Had you done the same method with the fogs as you did headlamps... Much better looking, and no loss of light output.
