newb here

hey guys im new here. bought a silver/dsg 2008 FX4 with 26k back in september. its mostly stock. its got the luxury package so its all loaded out except for the reverse sensors and backup camera. havent done much to it yet, bought a used volant cai for $50, tinted front 2 windows to match rear windows, upgraded interior bulbs to leds, installed lights in the center console that turn on when the lid opens, and just bought an FX2 grille. planning on a 2'' or 2.5'' leveling kit, powdercoat or paint stock 20'' wheels, 305/55/20 tires, ptm fender flares dsg, paint badges or buy 09-11 badges, some sort of tuner, and dual exhaust. theres a picture of it in my profile.

Bold response, you should get a tuner. I like PHP.
2", no larger IMO. too much angle on the suspension.
Exhaust, its a hot topic here. I have a knock off flowmaster SI/DO and I like it.
But I also like how the real super 44/40 and magnapacks sound.
I plan on going with 2.25 true duals coming out before the rear tire when I get the money.
shop around, find some one who uses good mats, and welds good.
Do it right the first time.
Fender flares, I avoid them, afraid of rust and damage to the body.

Nice truck, like the two tone. Can't tell if it has a tonneau cover.

it does have a truxport tonneau cover. came with that, ventshades, bug guard, towing brake controller and a new drop in bed liner. this is my first truck, ive always been in a car or my mustang but had to get something a little more reliable and easier for an everyday driver. overall i am very happy with the f150.

Thumbs up

Welcome aboard!

No, your link did not work, but this does.

(Put pointer on the picture itself, right click, choose properties, copy the jpg link from there and past in IMG format in your message. You link just took me to a page for the album with a blue Mustang shown.)

... etc ...

Why are you thinking of powdercoating or painting those beautiful stock powdercoated 20" wheels?

I love your truck as is, screw a leveling kit. I'l maybe drop rear 2" at most.

No way I'ld paint the badges, the ones I've seen painted look awful IMHO, though the 09-11 badges look good on there.

Those with custom tunes believe they are worth the extra $$$ but they are custom tunes. Those with cannmed tunes get maybe 5 less HP but they have a tuner that works with a wider variety of vehicles without buying more tunes, and they save $$$. Your decision to make but I love my Superchips Flashpaq 1865.

Keep the wheels as are and wear the tires out. The 305/55-20s will be taller and wider, 305/50-20s same height but wider, so speedo stays same but most tuners will allow you to adapt either way.

I looked at other grilles, even recently, still like my painted body color grille like yours.

As always, it matters not to mewhat one does, I am just offering an opinion which is worth what it cost you ... maybe?

thanks for the comments

screw a leveling kit. I'l maybe drop rear 2" at most.
i will never lower a 4x4. i just think its wrong to do so

i decided to go with 2009-2011 badges and paint them flat black with silver inlays i got off ebay. ps if anyone is looking to get f150 inlays because i know patriot decals got busted, this guy is still doing them out of canada for $10. pm me and ill give you his email address.

i put the fx2 grille in but i'm not sure if i like it flat black, thinking of repainting it to dsg to match the lower 2 tone. i have a thread on here asking for opinion but only have gotten 1 response...

as for the wheels i want to something along these lines, maybe flat black instead. i stole this picture off someone elses thread

i'm also getting hids from ddm tuning for christmas.

Oh, That's OK .... you aren't alone. I once felt same way and I never gave thought to lowering my '77 in the 25 years I've had her, that's for sure. I doubt I'll ever lower my '07 either, but I would to level it before I'ld add 2" to the front if "level" was my priority ... which, for a truck that get's called on to work occasionally, makes little sense to me. They look silly with the resultant droopy rear even if IMHO only.

OH .... Somehow I had visions of a blacked out wheel with maybe just a shiney lip. Yeah .... accents like that, in semi gloss black .... Yeah, I could go for that though I'ld leave the center cap alone maybe. I might even "steel" the pic myself for my file.
