Weird Start Issue

So Friday morning I start my truck, drive it about two miles and shut it off. After about two hours I go to start it and the solenoid clicks but it does not turn over. The radio worked and if I remember right the blower worked. When I turned the key off all the gauges fluttered for a few seconds. There was 11 volts even though that does not necessarily mean anything. The light on the battery was green even though that does not mean much either although I have found it accurate in my other vehicles. I jump started the truck and everything seemed fine and to this day it has stated at lest 2 dozen times.

I do not think there is anything wrong with the battery; I have cleaned the terminals just to say I have.

What’s the deal? The battery went dead in two hours.

I don’t want to get stranded so I would like to figure out what went on and prevent it in the future.

Does anyone have an electrical schematic for these trucks?

Thanks

I would say it is the battery. A 2006 truck means the battery is 5 years old and at the end of its life. Radio and lights do not draw anywhere the current of the starter, so they could very well work even though the truck will not start. 11 volts is too low for a battery in good condition.

The 11 volts was when the battery was dead, it's above 12 now.

It's easy enough to take the truck to a parts store and get the battery and alternator load tested in the vehicle - and it's a free service.

I got a brand new battery (I would still get a new one if I was you) and my truck some times does this.
I can turn the key, but no start/starter. Its only very rarely, and its random.
When I go back to "on" I hear some relays clicking then I can start as normal.

I think my problem is
1)not turning key enough
2) something else.

I am going go to with the ID-10T error on this one though, so likely #1.
Still, get a new battery. I got mine at auto zone for $111.XX and its been great so far.
Its a gold duralast, with way higher CA/CCA then the stock battery.
The stock battery was like 550CCA.
