Another Spark Plug Thread

Started on Friday morning, finished Saturday Morning.

Its my father's truck. 04 with 106,xxx miles.

We managed to break not one of the plugs... we broke all 8.

Dad ran me off around 5pm and then stated in on his own. By 02:30 he had all of the plugs out. I took my time Saturday morning to replace the plugs.

Cranked the truck up and it ran like a Briggs and Stratton at 50 rpm. After quite a few minutes, it cleaned up and ran pretty good.

It still has an intermittent rough idle condition with no codes or CEL.

I bought the Lisle tool on ebay earlier this year and while it was not perfect, we could not have completed the job with out it.

All 8 BROKE!? I'm changing mine today 138k.

By the way, I like that truck. I wish I had stuck it out for the 6.5 bed and swapped the Lariat option for 4x4.

So far mine is going better. First plug came out okay. The next 4 came out with the extractor. I'm the hardest ones don't all brake. I don't think my extractor will last three more times.

Wow all 8........

At least your lisle tool worked for you. I still haven't bothered to buy one, haven't needed it yet.

I broke 5/8 and I helped my buddy and we broke 3/8.

good work changing the plugs. Doesn't it feel good to tell people that ford charges $800 and you did it yourself for like $250.

and then you can sell the tool. I sold mine for $20 less than I paid. and because you have to wait over a month to get one around here. It sold quickly.

I bought the tool used for a good price and I'll keep it for my truck. In about 10 years I'll have enough miles that I'll need to change the plugs. Mine is the 06 with like 32k on the clock.
