Childlock problem
Childlock problem
Hey just bought a used 2007 four door F150 and I am having a problem with the rear doors not opening from the interior. I read my owners guide and this is what is says:
- When these locks are set, the rear doors cannot be opened from the outside.
- The rear doors can be opened from the outside when the doors are unlocked.
-The childproof locks are located on the rear edge of each door and must be set seperately for each door. Setting the lock for one door will not automatically set the lock for both doors.
- Move lock control up to engage the childproof lock. Move control down to disengage childproof locks.
Neither door will open from the interior so I don't think it is a actual problem with the truck. Just wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem and knows anyway to help? Other then that this truck is nice! I'm 16 and got this for my first car! I'm looking into getting a bed cover for Christmas if anyone knows a good brand or anything about those. THANKS

Have you moved the switch on the door jambs? Sounds as if they are set to lock and just need to be unset. Welcome to the site, nice first vehicle!

Not to be cranky but did you switch the locks on both doors at the same time. It said in your instructions that one lock set will cause the other to be set also.
Just my $0.02
and welcome to the site.
Oops! I guess I got that one wrong!
Welcome to the site any way! ha ha

I had the same problem when I purchased my 07 SCrew at the end of August. I drove it to visit my family and I had to continuously open the rear doors for them. At home, only my wife and I are in the truck. I read the manual and checked the position and it was in the unlock mode. I switched it back and forth and continuously opened and closed the door. A few weeks later my father came and stayed the weekend and the doors worked just fine. Not sure what it was but it works now.
On an unrelated note, my tailgate lock would not work. I had to spray some lube (WD40) and work the key. Evidently the previous owner didn't use the lock very often.
As far as a bed cover, I'm considering the BakFlip with the BakBox. It fully integrates into the bed and once you lock the tailgate, it's secure.
Congrats on the truck.

I have the exact same problem as you have stated about your rear doors. I too have reset and it still does the same thing.

just to clarify, are all of you guys trying to adjust the actual door lock that sticks out of the top? if u are, ur doing the wrong thing.
the child lock adjustment is on the side of the door where it can only been seen when its open. like this picture

when u get up close it should look something like this

push the lever up or down to the unlock position. you have just set the child lock to nothing so the door will open from the inside now.
FYI!!!! the rear doors will have to be unlocked via the power lock or the rear passenger will have to pull the little lock stick up out of the door then pull the handle. the rear door do not automatically unlock the doors like the fronts.

CRUEY, do your doors auto-lock once you start driving? In this mode, I've experienced that you CANNOT open the back doors from the inside - regardless of the position of the tab.
If I disable the auto-lock (check manual - you have to turn the key 3x an then push the driver's lock/unlock buttons in a special sequence), there isn't an issue opening the back doors from the inside.
I did replace the factory door speakers and may have jostled something in the process - but I rarely am sitting in the back of my truck to worry about it.
