2004 Supercab XLT 4X4 Electrical Problem
Where to start... I bought this truck back in March 2010 and had the dealership where I bought it replace the engine do to it knocking and it was under warranty. I think during the engine swap the backyard mechanic they had on staff might have pinched the harness running from the PCM to the transmission. After 2 weeks of having the truck back Fuse #14 statred blowing. A couple of weeks after that it was blowing everytime I got in the truck and the transmission went out. So I purchased a used transmission and had them put it in because they felt that it was not right for me to have to pay for it all due to me just purchasing the truck and the warranty had already expired. I told them about the Fuse #14 blowing and the mechanic said he would look at it. He told me that the bypass switch spring had fallen out and the bypass switch was causing the fuse to blow so he took a portion of a ziptie and pulled the bypass switch down and put in the ziptie to eliminate the problem. Me not knowing any better I thought hey this could be the issue unitl about 2 days later I noticed the Crusie Control, Backup Lights, Air conditioning (cold air, heat works fine) and that the shifter will shift without pressing the brake, and now that it is getting colder here it is gettiing harder to due to the PCV not having any electricity( I assume). The new motor still has a knock ford dealership says it is Cam Phasers any one have any ideas on how to fix this. By the way the truck is a New model 2004 F150 Supercab XLT 4X4 with the 5.4 3V Trition. I know I have given a lot of information here, but i want to get my truck fixed. It is in excellent condtion for a 2004 and I want to keep for as long as I can. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
GLC unfortunately all shops around here are like that and want to charge outragoues prices just to find the problem. The Ford dealership wants 500 up front just to tell me what the problem is. I was hoping to get some information from someone who is expeirenced with F150's and can help me fix this problem myself. I have worked in several mechanics shops and know my way around vehicles except for when it come to eletrical. any help would be greatly appreciated
