Dealers don't offer HID because HIDs are illegal in cars not designed to have them from the factory. Proper, legal, HID lights are too expensive for Ford to put in the F-150s. I think Saleen made a set years ago for the Mustang, but that's about the only "Factory" Ford HIDs that I know of.

I never had this problem when I installed my set. The reason I disabled my auto-headlights was to make the ballasts last longer.

A lot of the ford cars, and some SUV's have them now; or at least as an option. But you are correct, no trucks have HID's or the option for HID's.

Indeed. A lot of the newer cars with them though are in a projector housing. There were the Mustangs that had them in a non projector housing though. I refuse to put them in the Supercrew due to the glare. Phillip's Xtreme Power FTW!

Saleen (iirc) made projectors for the mustang, but they were really expensive. I remember when some members were considering trying to fit them in the F150s.

What new Ford come with HIDs these days? I can't say I pay a whole lot of attention to 'regular' cars.

Edited to add: Dang, you're 100% right, the Saleen HIDs were reflector housings. Yikes! Also, $900 a pop!

To my knowledge its an option (maybe standard) on the taurus (sp?), edge, new 2011 explorer, mustang, fusion, and Flex. I know it was an option for something like 350 bucks when I was doing build and price on a 2011 mustang.

Yep, I couldn't recall if it was Roush or Saleen Mustangs that had the reflector housing HID's, so I left it at Mustangs haha. Good homework!

Did you have to install a capacitor in addition to the relay kit, or did yours work with nothing additional? QUOTE]

No I don't have a capacitor installed. I did dissable my daytime running lights, not sure if that would have made a difference. The only thing I could say is recheck ALL connections. And try to check if the relay on the harness never came loose, or the fuse is still good.

To those who are interested, after more back and forth the company has decided I received an incorrectly pinned relay harness. I'm sending it back for replacement today, we'll see if it works!

Hey Fireman... any news on this?

I just installed a BiXenon kit from Retro-Solutions for my 2006 F150... and I have the same issue, without the AutoLamp.

The driver's side comes on without an issue - the passenger side is a coin-flip, sometime it comes on, sometimes it doesn't...

I swapped the ballasts - same issue on the passenger side. So it isn't the ballast.

My harness has a capacitor included - was this included on your harness? Doesn't seem to help.

Also - I notice that the passenger side, when it does light, will turn off before the driver side. Meaning, then I turn off the lights, the passenger side turns off almost immediately - the drivers side stays on for a half second before turning off. Does anyone else have this issue? Just wondering if that indicate the problem.

Thanks

Are you using the headlight plug from the drivers lamp or the passengers lamp? I'm using the passengers and don't have a problem. There has to be an answer to why more people are having this problem.

I use the autolamp on mine nad got my lights from Myhids.com. My auto lights came on when I unlocked the doors till I got my alarm/ remote start installed, now they dont come on untill I have the key in the run position. I had the cliford max or something like that put on my truck, has the LCD display, I like it.

The harness is connected to the passenger side stock headlight connector....

My next debug plan was to try swapping the bulbs... the issue didn't follow the ballast - so I will check the bulbs... if it doesn't follow the bulb, then it's the wiring...

I am also really curious why the passenger HID light goes out before the driver side...

OK - so I swapped the bulbs, and the issue is still on the passenger side....

What can be the problem that causes the passenger HID to have intermittent lighting issues? I've swapped the ballasts, I've swapped the bulbs.... The issue is on the passenger side.

Can it be related to the passenger side light turning off a few seconds before the right side?
