High pitched whine

I have a 2007 V6 manual transmission F-150. A couple of months ago I did two things at the same time; I put synthetic oil in it and I changed out the transmission fluid (by “I” I mean the shop). Ever since then my truck has had a high pitched whine when I accelerate (it sounds like a turbine spooling up). There is also a steady whine when I am driving highway speeds, just not as loud as the one on acceleration. Does anyone know what might be causing this and is it a problem?

Does it whine when you are sitting still and rev it up in neutral? If so, temporarily remove the serp belt and see if it does it. If it doesn't, it's most likely the alternator.

*Bump*

Sorry, I've been away for a bit. Just got a call from the Ford house (I took my truck in for some clutch work) they took it for a test drive and called me about the whine. They said that it sounds as though it's gonna need a new tranny

I wouldn't let the Dealer work on it unless it still has a warranty.

I'm glad I did for the clutch work, they screwed it up the first time and had to fix it under warranty. I don't plan on going back to them, I will take it to someone else about the tranny. I'll deff get a second opinion about having the whole thing replaced.
