2.5" leveler kit - who is the best?

Yes, I used the search function and drifted off to the other Ford sites via Google.

I want to level my truck since I have the Ride Rite Air Springs (which are awesome) and want to know who makes the best front leveler and where do I buy it?! I'm not an eBay expert so usually buy from a reputable company (not saying eBay isn't!). I'm sure I'm not alone.

So, from what I've read, the Auto Spring kit seems to be the best and the one I'm leaning to unless convinced otherwise. Other candidates are Daystar and Protech.

I know there are tons of threads on this so just looking for links to where you bought your kit and what you thought.

'05 Screw w/ 5.4.

Thanks in advance!

Chris

Autospring kits have four sizes to choose from, they have the offset design built into them to prevent or reduce rubbing on the upper control arm and come in two finishes, painted or powder coated. The A/S kits are made from heavy steel and bolt on top of the coil-over assy, the poly kits like the daystar go under the spring hat directly onto the spring so you have to disassemble the coil-over assy to install them. Also the steel kits never settle, the poly kits usually do.

go here to get it www.autospringcorp.com

Thanks 05red,

That's the type of info I'm looking for! I like the idea of the spacers settling in so do the A/S ride firmer/rougher than the Poly options? I would think so but maybe the coil is the key and the spacer is just the spacer?

Still leaning to the A/S (now that I know where to get them). I'd really like an air controlled front end to match the rears but this seems to be the best option. I'd be interested to hear about the Daystar from someone with an '05 Screw like mine.

Thanks again,

Chris

I went AS due to the fact I only wanted 1.5 and they came in the powder coat I was looking for.

Either HBS or AS, however AS provides a little more lift than the equivalent HBS. I have a post somewhere with the numbers I will see if I can pull them up.

Per the old post I mentioned above.

The autospring measures as follows:
Spacer Size / Total Lift
1 5/8...............2"
1 11/16............2.5"
1 3/4...............3"

This means the 2.5 HBS = the 2 AS....

What I meant by settling is the poly kits tend to compress over time and you loose lift, whereas the steel kits can't compress so you will never loose any lift, unless you break a spring or something.

Also the steel kits tend to have a better ride than the poly ones. Because the poly kits go inside the coil-over assy you end up over compressing the coil spring and therefore increasing the spring rate and affecting ride quality. The steel kits just bolt on top of the coil-over and do not alter the spring rate at all.

And stay away from the aluminum kits, they can wear from the softer material and are prone to bimetallic corosion.

You can't go wrong with the A/S or the HBS kits both are excellent quality and priced about the same.

Thanks, 05Red. I'm going with the AS.

Here's a dumb question - I'm good at those.... I want to confirm the 2.5 is the way to go. Measuring from the ground at center of the wheel up to center of the well I get 39.5" in the back and 37" in the front. 2.5" difference, duh. This is also with the rites rites set at 15# since I'm not towing. So, the dumb question is 2.5 or 3? [putting on asbestos jump suit for the replies!]

2.5 Inch Level

So here is my option, Tuff Country. Are they any good? I know there are several trucks where I live that have them, but I haven't gotten a chance to talk to any of the owners...and I'm just worried. I want the best quality, not just mediocre.
