5.4 bogging down?
5.4 bogging down?
I have a 2004 5.4 4x4. The truck started bogging down on hills or with any load a couple weeks ago. In town slow driving is fine but on acceleration or at cruising speeds its horrible. I changed all the spark plugs, fuel filter, and cleaned the throttle body and maf. Any ideas to what this could be? How can i check the COPs? There is no CEL either.
I am having a similiar problem to yours with my '04. It's been doing this for a while, but only occasionally. Lately it seems to getting worse. Mine is most noticeable on acceleration, sounds like a 4 barrel carb kicking in, but no go. If I hit the accelerator a few times, it goes away. I am going to check my fuel pump pressure, fuel pump driver module, and throttle body motor, in that order. Hopefully you can get a better answer to this from someone more knowledgeable. Mike
I've done everything in my knowledge to fix it so im taking it to my buddy who is a ford tech sunday.

I agree Chaz, it does feel like there is back pressure. I've been think for a while that it may be exhaust related, but I would think that a CEL would pop on the dash if there was exhaust issues. The only difference with my problem and the original poster is that mine also happens at slow speeds more often. Typically when accelerating slowly from a stop sign. Doesn't happen all the time, but definitely happens more frequently when the weather is warm.
On Wednesday I'm having the throttle body and MAF sensor cleaned as well as having the PCM reflashed. I've seen in a couple other threads that the PCM being reflashed has worked.
