Acceleration

Hello, my name is Michael, iīm from Germany.
I have the opportunity to buy a F150 Lariat 4x4 from 2004 here in Germany.
But i think, the Truck hasnīt enought power, because it needs from 0-60 round about 12 seconds. If i ride on the freeway with 120km/h and i kick the pedal fully, the noise is great, but the acceleration is very sluggish!
My question, is this a normal condition?

Yes.

It's a +6,000 lb brick with poor aeros and approx 210 RWHP.

Tows very well, though.

In other words, it's a TRUCK.

Examine the maintenance histoy on that thing - if it does not have one, walk away - the early models had several issues, and proper maintenance is essential. That IS a tad slow ....

Too Slow

I have an 07 lariat with 3.73 rear end and it takes about 9 seconds to get to 60 stock.

Get that pig checked out.

These trucks are not "pocket rockets" by any stretch of the imagination. Many guys are somewhat disappointed with the acceleration of the vehicle -- a condition that can be addressed somewhat through tuning and aftermarket accessories.

However, at the end of the day, Ford's philosophy with these vehicles seems to have been that they are trucks, and as such they were willing to compromise the acceleration qualities of the vehicle in exchange for more "truck-like" attributes of towing, etc.

My 08 4x4 SCREW with 3.73's stock tires and level 3 gryphon tune ran a 7.15s 0-60mph. I also spun pretty good off the line which does not help. As others have said that 12s seems a little high.

that is a distinct possibility and would explain it...if it is a 5.4, it could need a tune-up...a clogged fuel filter or air filter could explain it as well...

These heavy truck's are not fast by any mean's but that time does seem quite slow. I would keep off the Autobahn with it!

Oh great. If that thing has been in operation with low fluid for any length of time, acceleration (or lack thereof) will be the least of yer concerns.

If that is the case - again: WALK AWAY, unless you like buying a new tranny.

It was the programmer and not a timeslip. However whats so unbelievable with a 7.15 0-60?

Your truck weights a ton, on 33's and runs 0-60 faster than 2700lb car with 163 FWHP

That time was with 275/65/18 so around 32. As MGD said the programmer is probably off compared to a timeslip, but I do not know how much. After putting other tires on that number is not as good. Just for comparison does anyone have 0-60 slip times?
