Steering intermediate shaft service / replacement

Hey Guys,
I have had steering shake on my 04 for a few years. I have done the road force balance drill and it has not fixed the problem. Anyway I just checked my ball joints (no slop) tie ends and both outer ties are shot.

In addition the lower u-joint on the lower steering intermediate shaft has slop and makes noise. I have seen recommendations on replacement of the shaft or lubrication to get rid of the noise.

I am wondering if I fix the tie ends if that will solve my shake or if it's a combination of the tie ends and the steering u-joint.

Does anyone have experience replacing the lower intermediate shaft? There are some threads that recommend replacement but no how to...

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!
