I'm sure it's been asked because I know it's been done. But is it a simple swap or is it true I'd need to fill the back or the 09 badge and sand it down to make it work?

 

If you get the right badge for the tailgate, it's just a simple swap. There are two different badges for the tailgate, one with a beveled egde on top and bottom for the 09-up tailgates and the flat one for the flareside. You need the flareside badge part # 9L3Z-9942528-E

I used the flareside badge on mine and it's a perfect fit.



If you haven't got them yet, here is the #'s for the 09 FX4 fender badges-

Also if you want the FX4 badge for the tailgate, it's #2L1Z-7842528-ABB
