Want to paint rear bumper...

I want to repaint my rear bumper on my FX4. It's dark shadow gray. The previous owner scratched it all up, and then took a non matching touch up paint to the scratches and it looks horrible. How should I go about it, I figured a body shop would do it for probably $150-$200 that I don't have to spend right now.

Take this for what its worth, but I had my front and rear bumper, grille, and upper valance refinished and repainted and it cost $1200. I would say 150 - 200 is going to be on the lower end at a regular body shop (Maaco might be closer to that range), but it seems to be different everywhere...

also, be aware, that the step pad can be a pain in the *** to get off and if they break enough clips, you'll be on the hook to buy a new one (and they aren't as cheap as you would think).

go around and ask and tell them that you will bring them the bumper without the pad on and the bumper already removed, and all they got to do is spray it. I'm sure that will lower the price.

If you can do it, this is what I'd recommend too... but if you are, be very careful removing that step pad.

go to h***. that price includes them breaking down, sanding, priming, painting, reassembling.

i'm tired of being told I overpaid. I have since had 3 other quotes done, plus the 2 I had done before getting the work done. Lowest quote was 1120 and a couple of them were well into the 2K range. Paint ain't cheap. Labor ain't cheap.
