Bucking during deceleration

04 F150 w/ 5.4L V8 w/ approximately 60K on the odo.

A few months ago, it developed a bad miss. I checked the plugs (new in December), new fuel filter in December, checked/cleaned the air filter, pulled the MAS and cleaned it, pulled the throttle body and cleaned it. It seemed to be running fine after that.

Lately, it's been missing a little bit again. At idle I notice the miss every so often at random. I could be sitting at a stop light and feel the miss once. Sometimes I don't feel the miss sitting at a stop light. It's very random.

I also noticed lately that while I'm cruising the highway at 65 - 70 and slightly ease off the accelerator, the truck bucks pretty bad. It's not throwing any codes.

What else can I check that could be causing this? I'm really stumped. I don't want to take it to a stealership to have them put it on a machine, say they find nothing wrong, and charge me a butt load. I feel that it's got to be something simple that I'm overlooking because I'm overthinking this.

Any ideas?

Possibly coils. You can buy a whole set on Ebay for about $125 from Global or Uneek.

Diagnostics said that the coil packs on cylinders 3 and 7 were bad. They wanted to charge me 2 hours of labor to put them in. BWAHAHA!! I went to the parts department to get the coil packs. $130 for 2. I talked to the parts guy a bit then called Brady (a very knowledgeable guy that can generally get parts for less). He couldn't get them for any less because they are OEM parts. I talked to the parts guy at the dealership some more (just bs'ing about cars and stuff) and he sold them to me for $103 out the door. I went home, installed the coil packs in less than 20 minutes. I drove the truck to work and I still have the same problems.

So, I'm wondering if it's going to take a few cycles of driving for the PCM to relearn how to manage the air/fuel now that I replaced the bad coil packs. Is that possible? I don't know. If replacing the 2 coil packs doesn't fix the problem, what in the hell could it be???

Why did you pay that much for 2 when you could have gotten a whole set with a lifetime warranty?

I'm more inclined to think you have an injector leaking. Might try having a MotorVac performed on it.
