Two f150's and some sand.... Build thread*****
They are sway away front axles...
Update: the lariat has just come out of the shop with a new motor..
In terms of bolt ons on the NA 5.4s, what kind of bolt ons are the best for performance??
I have a 2.3 whipple for the 3v expy.. But its missing some parts.. Ill post pics when I get to a computer

-X-pipe
-Straight through mufflers
Custom tune
Fully enclosed cold air intake
Cool, thanks guys for the comments and help!
We did have the plan to supercharge the Lariat.. But I'm not really so confident of the stock engine under such hard abuse.. I could just see what the iat's datalog would look like already.. Hell no lol. You guys can't imagine it?? 2wd drifting around in the sand off the rev limiter for a couple of hours lol.. Well not to the extent, but something like that.
I was hoping that some ppl with blown stock motors would chime in. Some one who drives em hard, as strange as that sounds lol..

Dude, when can I come visit and drive that fastback? lol. Those are some sick cars(and trucks). I cant wait to see the rest of this project and other projects to come. very nice work.
5 bucks says you cant find the Whipple!!

So do you guys think a stock driveline under heavy abuse can handle the 2.3??? i know the motors and trans can handle some, but im not sure about the desert. As I always say, reliable is always faster lol.
Not sure what i have and dont have yet.. We havent even seriously considered it..

About time I take some pictures with a proper camera right?? yeah I know, but my cellphone is always with me. camera, not so much.
Here are the updates, some repeated pics, but now it better quality
Finally both trucks together again!

The Lariat... aka Skeleton shedding some of the stock equipment..

Her Diff getting reinforced AGAIN... lol... I wasnt lying when I told you they get driven hard..

One of the rear shocks.. next to the Deaver Leafs for size comparison's sake.

Lots of Fiberwerx soon to be sexiness..

The progress on the FX4

This is how shackles are supposed to look like

We are still waiting on another shipment to continue the work on the FX4.. the final spec sheet will look something like this
Front:
Modified Brenthel Long travel kit
Dual bypass ICON shocks on either side
Swayaway extended axles
hydrolic bump stops
Engine cage for added support on the shock towers and chassis
Lots of body modification
Rear:
Deaver leafs
two huge Icon bypass shocks
c notched frame
shock cage, also adding strength to the rear chassis
Two adjustable hydrolic bumpstops
This is not including all the modification we will have to do to put on all the fiberglass body parts, with stainless steel fasteners; this thing will look insane.
Almost every part of the suspension will be adjustable for different situations (jumps vs. top speed runs)... Because well, oh, Did I mention that we have professional rally car mechanics to tune it for us?? they are too excited about the project...
These guys are used to driving rally vehicles that have FIA regulations, from limited travel to intake restrictors... Thats no fun is it??? This is what these projects are about, pure ****ing fun. What happens when you put a bunch of them in a room with out the restrictions? well something similar to this. Which is what got them so excited, hence all the innovation that has happened with these trucks...
On another note, we still haven't come up with what to do for paint... we know that the Lariat (skeleton) will be black as a base, and the FX4 in grey as a base.. We'll wanna incorporate the theme of a skeleton on the lariat.. tastefully tho, without anything too over the top. Maybe some of you guys could help us for picking some paint themes?
Its getting really hot in the shop, 130F plus degrees.. so progress will most likely be slow.. its ok though, we want them for the winter desert fun

Good eye, I guess I owe you 5 bucks lol
3laikm esalam. Yeah bro, shoot me a pm and we'll meet up this weekend, good to see someone from the Gulf already here!
I am from Dubai Too.
I have a 05 Lariat, Stock except for Ranchos Quick Lift & wheels (9X18) and Tiers (325/60-18).
Word of advice, go with the supercharger, after I fitted the tiers I can't play around in the sand. It struggles in the sand. Alternatives are to re-gear. A looking diff will be great too.

Did you rebelled the engine or did you get a new one.
Few ideas if you want to supercharge. Get 2 coolers (the radiator thing that goes in front of the condenser) tack them on top of each other and run them in parallel and fit a electrical fan for them. That should take Kare of the intake air temp at the sumer. Also I think you should stay between 4-6 psi at the sumer time to prevent over heating. off cures you have to test it to be sure.

We had the same lack of power, my neighbor called it the "chewing gum throttle feeling". I blame electronic throttle bodies, Drive by wire FTW! After installing a CAI, deleted cats, and a tune; the truck got a lil peppier.
The Ranchos are OKAY for slow driving and small obstacles in the desert. but the stage 1 ICON set up we ran after was MUCH better, on and off the street. Hell, the F150 could enter turns at almost the same speeds as the srt! All this on 35" tires.
We will definitely be re-gearing for the 37" tires, which should eliminate the load the wheels would cause. But only time will tell, we have no one to referrer to for advise. If the truck is still dead after, then the twin screw is the only other way to go.
As for the answer to your engine question. We ended up replacing it completely. We have access to a guy who has about every stock F150 part in his house of all places. He has really become one of our more important assets with these builds.
The drive line work is done in the dealership.. I have some friends at Ford here from Altayer (the Ford dealer) and Ford Detroit, so they do some phenomenal work on our vehicles.
The piece that your talking about that sits in the grill is just an After-cooler, even running 2 of them wouldn't change the Temps around much... a better inter cooler pump from Meziere would help, along with running a concept cooling mod, like the ICEyres from TF, or the killer chiller. Both could be made to work on the F150 with some modification. The inter-cooler is located under the twin-screw..
But that wasn't my main concern. It was def the engine I was worried about. its hard to get a tune perfect on this side of the world. Even if we did, I just don't have faith in stock pistons and connecting rods.
Thanks Anders!
Can you imagine how we feel lol?
Once we get some more progress done, Ill post more of it for ya, along with anything else we get done.

I know its been a while, but yeah, we are still gettin **** done
More progress....
The FX4 starting to take shape.

the rear shock cage and tire rack.. there will also be a battery box, and ZEX nitrous system (also enclosed)

More of the engine brace, I still cant get over how cool it is to see the control arm through the engine bay lol.

The Lariat SKELETON also getting some of the goodies,
still need to do all the modification as the FX4, but its coming along.

And the work goes on...
