Was helping a buddy haul some stuff to the dump when I accidently cuaght my tailgate with a braket to an old bumper.
My other buddy works at a local body shop and they qouted ne $500 to repair.

From a distance you can see the ding.

My suggestion to you would be (if your worried about it) go to a paintless dent removal specialists. Have them remove the ding. (A body shop is gonna charge you out the *** for the dent removal because they also charge labor per hour. My local body shop was something like $65 per hour + the charge of parts etc. My quote sheet said the dent would take 7 hours to remove. It took the paintless dent removal specialists less than a hour.) Then take a DA polisher and apply some meguiars 105 followed by 205 on thoses scrathes not gonna guarantee anything but i think it'll clean the scratch up a little bit. You might want to get your buddy to quote you on just a respray of the tailgate if you want it flawless. I would suspect around $100-125 for just the respray. The dent doesn't look too bad but I wouldn't expect anything less that $130-150 for it's removal. And don't expect 100% removal but I persoally think it'll come out at least 95%. Hope it works out =D

I agree with MRLSU2U. Take it do a local PDR guy and they should be able to get it near perfect again.
I had a dent in my front fender that a body shop quoted me 900 bucks to fix. For that price I could've bought installed, and painted a brand new fender and still spent less. They wanted to spend 10 hours putting it back into shape and then repaint the entire fender.
60 bucks and 30 minutes after going to the Paintless Dent Removal my fender looked like new except for a few scratches in the paint.

I totaled my tailgate pulling a buddy out of a mud hole. The ****** strap broke and popped the **** out of my tailgate. Im just going to get a new tailgate and get it painted. Look on craigslist for one without the guts.

I used some in 12" wide rolls to cover the whole lid of a small cargo trailer I pull behind the bike to cover scratches, very very tough stuff.
Otherwise, I'ld maybe clean it well, and touch up, the "paintless dent removal" idea sounds excellent. I have a small dent right below the FORD emblem in my tailgate, was there when I got the truck. Looks like a hitch did it, maybe opened the tailgate with a trailer there and a trailer jack maybe? If I could get the dent out, I could maybe make it look better at less costs.
Friends suggest a "stick on bullet hole".
Not sure if you are talking to me. If so I do not have wheel spacers.. less backspace and wider wheels.
Thanks every one for there help. Definatly thinking about the Paintless dent removal. Let you know how it goes.
