Letting your oil and or filter go for more than 5k is crazy talk! Just get motorcraft filter, valvoline, mobil 1 whatever brand of oil you prefer (I use Mobil 1 full synthetic) and change em both every 3k. Ive seen way too many engines go from not changin either one often enough. Oil and filters are cheap. Engines are not.

No, running full synthetic at 3K intervals is crazy talk.

change em both every 3k.
You old schoolers will never be convinced. This is the 21st century, not the 60's. Technology has made 3k oil changes totally unnecessary unless you only do 3k in a year.

Whatever. It's your truck, spend your money how you see fit.

You should be regretting Penzoil more than the K&N filter.
Hey, don't be hating Penzoil, I run Penz Platinum 5-20 and the Motorcraft filters, if the ford racing high performance (great micro filters) werent so damn expensive I would run those but their like $12-15 ea so the moto works fine every 10k hi way miles, YMMV
BTW: BITOG member here too.

Show me a modern warranty that requires 3k changes under normal use.

I'll be waiting on the proof as well. I am throwing the BS flag on this one.

Check your owners manual and warranty info my friend. It specifies oil change intervals up to and including 7500 miles using the sythetic blend 5w-20.

Even then, 3k change intervals are excessive. My '08 screw calls for 7500 miles, 6 mo except for extreme duty, then it's 5k and 6 mo.

Check out the four banger rice burners. My '02 Isuzu Rodeo's was 3 mo, 3k.

I've got a 07 Heavy Half and it calls for oil changes every 3K maint, falls under the heavy duty cycle or whatever it's called today. To keep the extended warranty in effect, that's only 3 oil changes a year for me so it's better to do it than risk problems if something breaks. I also have the dealer do it so it's on record there, no questions on whether it was done or not.

Yes, that's "severe service". If you only put 3k on in 4 months, that's not unreasonable.
