RE: Is this really a 2007 FX4?

OK, stupid noobie question . . . I'm still looking and checking vehicles and ran across this ad which on-line says it is an XLT . . . but in an ad in the newspaper it was listed as a FX4.

All the pictures I've seen so far of FX4s tend to show them with the center console shifter and with the bumper being gray or the same color as the body . . . not chrome . . . and yet this has the FX4 sticker.

So my question . . . is this a legit FX4 or did someone just stick a FX4 sticker on the truck?

Is it possible that it's an XLT with a FX4 off road package . . . did Ford offer anything like this in 2007 . . . and if so . . . what would it get/not get that the FX4 would have in its place?

It is definitely not an FX4 because the bumpers are not ptm, they dont have fog lights and the guage cluster is that of an xlt

XLT. Fx4's have a different gauge cluster too. As for "off road" packages I dont beileve they would have badged a xlt as a Fx4 just for suspension. The Fx4 was a package they sold, color matched bumpers, towing packages, off road shocks, limited slip rear end, console shifter.....From the look of it someone put a Fx4 sticker on a xlt. Nice looking truck though!

That's 100% XLT. Chrome bumpers with no fog lights, chrome grille surround, gauge cluster, and 17" wheels.

No flow thru either, the shifter is on the steering column. Not an FX4, not worth $22k.

It sure looks like a standard XLT. I suppose it is quite possible that a previous owner swapped out the traditional 4x4 decal for some FX4 decals.

My 2004 FX4 had the same guage cluster as the truck in question and it also had a column shift instead of a center console shift. However it did have all of the other typical FX4 items like PTM bumpers, keyless entry on drivers door, turn signals in the mirrors, auto diming mirror etc.
Several times I wish I had kept that truck. In fact I will swear on a stack of bibles that I followed it home the other night. This truck even had the dealer sticker from where I traded it.
If I see it on the road again I am going to follow the driver and inquire.

My '04 Fx4 has the column shift. Now I believe the pre '04 FX4's were XLT's with the FX4 package added to them. They had chrome bumpers on them, but the '04+ have the painted bumpers, and different gauges then the xlt's. My '02 FX4 wasn't any different than the '02 XLT's except a skidplate, different shocks, and different wheels.

It's a XLT that someone has slapped FX4 decals on. In 07, the FX4 was a discrete model, not just a package.

I'm a bit slow today . . . may be it's the heat . . . I ran a check and saw that the engine is a 4.6 liter . . . which pretty much confirms to me as many of you folks no doubt figured . . . it seems like a FX4 sticker has been stuck on it and that's about it.
