Efans from 2010 on 04-08 5.4?

I've seen several people asking about this in various threads, but have never seen a satisfactory answer. Has anyone looked into this or actually tried it yet?

If measurements need to be done, tell me specifically what needs to be measured as a buddy of mine just picked up a 2010 5.4l with efans and I can measure whatever we need.

I know the fans are probably controlled by the ECM, but I would love to figure out if there is any way to wire it to a DC or SPAL controller and keep the stock look of these fans.

Any suggestions?

Take a picture of whatever you can. I presume it's two fans mounted to some sort of plastic housing. If you can measure the length and height of the fan at the radiator, we should be able to determine if it fits or not. I'd be willing to bet the radiator is the same as the 04-08s, but not willing to back that bet us with any serious coin. Here is a pic of the Ford Racing stock radiator replacement without the shroud.

You'll notice the two welded cylinders toward the top. The stock radiator uses threaded clips, but are in the same location which fastens the shroud to the radiator. The factory radiator also has the u's on it that the shroud fits into. You'll note the welded hooks on the FRPP radiator has on the lower portion of the radiator. Sorry I don't have the same shot of the stock radiator.

I was looking at my dads '10 and my '04. His was in the garage with no keys in it, he left on vacation. I couldn't see much, but it looks like where my shroud bolts to the sides of the radiator, they are in the same place his is. The top of the fan shroud on his hooks over the top of the radiator. Mine is covered up by the shroud, I haven't had time to look, but I'd say the radiators are probably the same. If the bottoms hook in the same I'd think it would be a direct drop in minus the wiring. I'll have to get his out in the light when he gets home. Looking at that radiator in the picture, it looks the same to me as his. It's easier to see his since it doesn't have all the shrouding around it. There's a big space between the fans and the front of the engine, where on mine the shroud almost touches the front of the engine. Need part numbers for an '04-'08 radiator and then the # for a '10 model. I can't find one for a '10 yet, but if they match, I think all you would need is to wire it up.

The fan will bolt right up. Controlling it is where nothing has come up. I have looked but cant find any specs on the fan motor. Dont have the time or place to just buy one and try. I still look in to it when time allows.

You're sure it will bolt right up? If that is a definite then I might just order one from the local dealer and see what I can do with it. Can't find anyplace online that sells parts for the 2010 F150 yet, none of the TradeMotion sites have the F150 listed when you select 2010 Ford.

According to the 2010 owners manual, the electric fans have 2 40amp fuses and 1 25amp fuse. I wonder if a DCControl FK85 would be sufficient to run it.

Really need to find a wiring diagram to see how many wires these fans have coming out of them, I wonder if there is any sensors or controls in the fan unit itself, or if it just has a basic power and ground connection and everything else is done by the ECM. May have to see if my buddy will let me expose some of his wiring to see what there is.

I don't know that the 8005 part number is the actual part number of the radiator. If you look at just the 2010 F150 on that fordparts.com website, there are three different radiators listed, all with different descriptions and prices and that same 8005 part number. That has to be a generalized part number for "radiator" that they use in their breakdown drawings, not the actual part number of the specific radiators. If trademotion would ever update their database to include the 2010 F150 we could get some better information on it.

Here are all the numbers from my dads 2010 F-150 Lariat 4x4 crew cab.

Listed on the top of the radiator on a white sticker
B281H
9L34-8005-BB
888-26-7494-5329

As far as I can tell it looks the same as my radiator in my '04 without all the stuff covering it up. It does however have the power distribution box mounted on top of the radiator. As far as I can tell on the left side motor, there is two wires that come out of it that go directly up to the power distribution box, I'd assume the right side fan is the same.

Hmmm, none of those 3 numbers return a match on Tascaparts.com or on google. The mystery continues.

There is another number imprinted in the radiator itself, but dad left in his truck. I seen the # with the 8005 on the sticker and figured that's what we needed. I'll have to get the other number.

Just go to any Ford dealer and order an elect. fan Assy for a 2010 F-150, with just a very few small alterations they will fit the 04-08 Rads. A DC Controller FK50P is what you want to control them with. The Fans and shroud are about $200. The controller is about $150, I for one would not trust any other controller with these fans. Only fabs that I am aware of are only a couple of L shaped 'hooks' to secure the shroud to the bottom of the Rad. Bear in mind, I haven't done this yet, I expect the fans to arrive by the end of the week, I already have the controller, so, bottom line, I'm only going on other posts I have been reading. Part# for the fans is 8C607 (RF-252). I know...weird #, but that is what Fords computer shows for it. Best info I have for now !
