Brake Change Miles

So last night started changing my brake pads on the rear, they were pretty much worn plum out. I have 85k on the truck, the front seems fine. Whats everybody else getting out of their brakes?

BTW I pull an 18 foot bass boat pretty much every weekend so that may have something to do with the life. Also how the hell do I get the rotor off, thing is stuck on there, I may have to go buy a puller.

you have 85K on the original pads?!?!?!?

You must do a lot of highway driving?

I drive mostly city miles to work, occasional highway trips, and only got about 55K on the front and rear brakes.

I'd change the front ones right away too... maybe you can save the rotors. If you wait and go past the pads you will trash the rotors.

A puller is your best bet. Especially if you plan on reusing the rotor. The other option is to beat the crap out of it with a mini-sledge.

Swapped both front and rears at about 45k. They both needed it, fronts weren't as bad as the rears though.

To remove a stuck rotor...

Yeah I commute open highway every day for work. I pulled the front off and they appeared fine about 1/8th left, probably just replace them also. The back were in bad shape nearly gone completely, I wanted to turn the rotors on the back, but man I fought getting them off for nearly and hour. Finally gave up and just took the mustang to work today, I will finish the job tonight. I gotta tell ya, thats the slickest thing I have ever seen for removing rotors.

If it's the back rotors giving you trouble, then you have to loosen the "E" brake adjuster and they will come right off.
Went thru that with mine then somebody told me to loosen it up--DUH!
