Parking Brake Removal

Anybody see any issues that may result if I completely remove my parking brake components. Seems like they are more of a weakness than a benefit...I have to get them fixed anyways so I would just rather remove them completely

A dealership here in michigan told me to just take them out all together cuz they tend to rust up and are a problem liek you said. But havent done it yet.

legally you need an emergency brake for.... emergency's. If your hydraulic brakes fail you need to have a mechanical backup so you dont smash into people. If you lose brakes and crash, and when they inspect your vehicle find your secondary system has failed you could be in a large pile of it....

I suspect that a maladjusted parking brake when hastily stomped upon would be worse than downshifting and/or cutting off the engine. But I agree, if insurance companies get involved there could be trouble.

if you do take them off you should keep them, and give them to whoever you sell it to.

If your state has a safety inspection, you have to have a parking brake and it has to work.

I am registered in Michigan so no inspections. Ill keep the parts for when I sell....it just doesn't make sense to me to have it with all the beach driving I do it will bind up again within weeks, I wouldn't trust it to stop me in an emergency anyhow. Ill just add it to the other non kosher things like my tint, lift, horns, programmer, technically none of those would pass inspection if I required one.
