06 Ford F150 Grinding/Rattling Noise Please Help
Hello everyone first time on the forums. I have an 06 F150 regular cab,V6 ,automatic. I recently changed the brakes on it. Soon after, I started driving the truck I noticed a grinding noise sounds like metal on metal almost. This happens right after I put it into gear and start idling forward, and also when I come to a stop. It does not happen while driving normal speeds only when idling or at a stop. I thought it was the brakes at first but when the noise continued after I came to a stop that ruled out that problem, and now I'm at a loss. I was hoping somebody could point me in the right direction before I drive over to Ford for a diagnostic. Somebody mentioned it could be the IWE Solenoid, what is the IWE Solenoid? and how could it cause these problems? Thanks
It's not an iwe solnoid meaning an indipendent wheel end. It's a spring enguaged vaccum disconnect means of enguaging or disenguaging 4x4. You would only hear that noise like ice in a blender while in motion and it would completly stop if you were to enguage 4x4.
Now if you just did your brakes I'd take the wheels off and have a look before I paid ford money to feel dumb bc you made a small mistake. make sure nothing is rubbing and look for scratch marks on the rotors and wheels as a tell tail sign
also. Guy could check things that are in motion when your truck isn't. Say the fan or belts. Maybe it's a tensioner or idler bearing
