Unhappy Squeeky Acceleration

My truck squeeks! What is up? I had the serpentine replaced and that had no effect. My truck sounds like an old beater!

Anyone else have this problem and was able to resolve?

^^^ Mine started squeeking on the 3rd to 4th gear change after I installed the Edge (When I'm heavy on the pedal). Is yours doing it all the time? Did you use some belt dressing? You sure it is the belt squeeking?

I believe the belt should have 1/2-3/4" play. Any more is too soft and anyless is too tight. Check your tensioner pulley.

It squeeks/squeels most of the time. I'll have to ask about the belt dressing and tension from when they replaced the serpentine.

it could be an idler gear, i replaced mine on my 99 f150. It was worse the harder i stepped into it. pull your belt off and give everything a spin

Yeah the idler pulley wearing out sounds like an old power steering pump thats low on fluid. Could be a u-joint too, they can squeak on acceleration.

I would replace the two idlers and the one tensioner pulley. I had a build up of rubber on all three when I bought the truck (75k) and replaced them when I did the belt. Sad part is that you probably won't find any replacements that don't have Chinese bearings (even from the dealer).
