I hate hail!
Why the hell would you have a $1000 deductible? Kind of defeats the purpose of having insurance if you ask me.
Some people cant afford the premiums with a lower deductible would be my guess
Oh well. :o
i have yet to get hailed on this year .. but just got about $5,000 worth of damage last year fixed awhile back due to tennis ball sized hail ... gotta love oklahoma weather, so im crossing my fingers this year...
I went and got some preliminary quotes today.
two PDR places quoted me at $2600 and a body shop quoted me at $4225.
Im going to meet with the insurance agent at a shop on Friday so ill see what they quote me. Im really leaning towards buying that Cervini's ram air hood with the insurance money instead of getting the stock hood fixed, but we'll see how the agent likes that idea. Any suggestions?

Dang..I'd go hit a tree then get it fixed. LOL Atleast then the 1000 would go somewhere
Update as of today..
I spoke with the insurance agent and I'll be getting a check for approximately $3300 in the mail in the next few days.
The hood needs to be replaced, so it's gonna get replaced with a Cervini Type II ram air hood.
The roof needs to be filled and repainted, which doesnt bother me only because it's the roof. PDR the dents on the tailgate and fenders. Replace shattered wiper cowl and third brake light, and replace two window moldings.

Ran into major hail last year hauling a trailer along I-44 east of Tulsa. Baseball sized hail almost destroyed the truck, busted both mirrors, the plastic piece surrounding the wipers was almost non-existent, hood, cab roof, tailgate and other parts were heavily damaged. Almost a month in the shop, new paint job, some new body panels and all is good. I was very lucky and when the shop gave estimate of $6800 (which both shops said it was the worst hail damage they had seen to a truck) I was never so happy to have a $100 comp. deductible. I have a tree that I park the truck under when at the office and will go home early if anyone mentions hail. To those that think that is crazy, you must not love your truck like I do. Good luck with the repairs!
My condolences. had $1500 in hail damages last year to mine.
My sister lives in OKC it took out both of their cars and all of the north facing windows of the house they just bought. Better yet her husband was released from the hospital a whole 2 hours before it hit.
