I also have the same issue, but IMO replacing the TB right away is pretty stupid and a waste of money. Clean it first and clean the sensors inside, no need to replace if it's not BROKEN.

I went ahead and cleaned the MAF and cleaned the TB first. I did this about 2 weeks ago and so far so good. I noticed my TB had a good coating of black gunk in it so I'm sure the sensors in there were fouled (would make sense).

Cleaning the MAF and TB can be done in a hour, easy job. Just have to take off the air intake assembly.

I had the exact same problem over the last 6 months or so....finally did it and threw an engine code....its your TPS sensor (Throttle Position Sensor) which is a known issue with the 5.4L. You should change the TPS sensor, have your throttle body decarbed and change your fuel filter...

It will solve your problems and the truck will run great. Mine would shut off every couple weeks or so while driving without reason...wouldnt know it until you stepped on the throttle and nothing and would go into limp mode and be hard to steer....you would go to restart it and it would sound like it was flooded because the TPS sensor was stuck and giving too much fuel to the engine...then it would fire and run like nothing happened.

Cost me just under $100 to replace everything at Ford.

Guys I REALLY do appreciate all the help. I was at the point of buying a new truck and was getting tired of salesmen calling non-stop to see if I was buying a truck. Im currently as we speak changing fuel filter and cleaning the throttle body and MAF. Hopefully, this will solve my issue. Im in college and so having another tuck payment would really suck! I will never forget the feeling I had when I paid my 30 grand truck off! Thanks alot and I'll keep updating if another problem happens. Thanks

Thanks again for the help. After using and reading how to clean/remove the fuel filter, MAF sensor, and the throttle body I now have a new truck! I honestly have NO idea if doing these fixed my problem of the engine dieing, but I can tell you all that doing the things above have helped a lot! So, even if this doesn't "fix" my problem it atleast made my engine smoother and run much better. The throttle response I gained is amazing. Thanks so much for all the info and responses you give me!
