cjenkins04fx4 What all does the edge programmer do?? Has the GOTTS mod helped?? Would it not make you run leaner?? Sorry for all the questions.

I have had an idle issue with my truck after it warms up. If I come to a stop it gets down to 350 and almost dies. Few seconds later it gets back up to 500. It use to idle around 700. I replaced my fuel filter, cleaned my KN filter, air sensor and today I removed my throttle body and got it cleaned. 60K on engine and I had major build up in the TB. I will be installing it back tomorrow. Got my fingers crossed.

I need to do more research on these programmers. Just do not really know what all they can do for you.

any input would be greatly appreciated.

My issue is not an idle problem. I was just driving about to make a right turn and the engine completly died. It wouldn't crank right after and after it sat for 3 minutes it started just fine. I have driven it sense without any problem. During the engine failure, I lost power steering and braking. It makes me nervous to drive because I have no idea when this may happen again.

sparky, the edge basically gives you 3 factory tunes, along with your stock one and allows you to select fuel economy, towing, or performance levels. each requiring a different octane. the low idle could be from not enough pressure, but i have yet to find out. I love my programmer because i can select the performance level, then customize my tire size, shift rpms, idle rpms and speed limiter. Theres other options also but you need to know what youre doing before you go mess with the WOT fuel, timing, and a few other options. I would recommend the GRYPHON tuner from power hungry performance. The guys there basically take the edge evo and make it better. Also if you do get an edge, they can make you a custom tune for 60 dollars and you download it. They will get info about your truck and ask what you want to get done and then professionally customize a program that replaces one of the factory tunes. i have had the gotts mod on since friday and have noticed it runs leaner and louder. i raced my buddys vw golf last night from a 60 roll to 120 and he barely had half a car length on me before i slowed down. not to mention im getting 22-25 mpg's running at 60 mph, and my rpms at 70 are around 1750 which is low.

In the Articles and How To section. This is for the 5.4. The 4.6 is same principle, just located diferently.

John, tell the folks at Autozone that you HAD a check engine light. Either that, or buy your own scanner for about 35 bucks, as long as it's CAN bus compatible it will pull codes.

thanks alot glc. Well I went by the dealership and they dont have any opening until this Friday to run the computer scan/test. What is the difference in their check than the one Autozone has? The test at the Ford place is $72 while the one at autozone etc. is free which one would I benefit the most from?

The difference is that ford charges 72 bucks and Auto zone does it for free. That's it. They are both just going to hook up a scanner and pull the codes.

JB09 I do not know if this will help but I just had a very similar issue and my truck has 60k on it. I just posted a reply on what I did to fix mine and it worked. Just look me up on the post about low idle 04 60k. Hope this helps

My truck is having the same problem right now. From what Ive read from searching, once you replace the throttle body it shoud fix the problem.
