Just did the fuel filter for the first time. Had it changed out 3 or 4 times and it's probably been 20-40k miles since the last time. The rear end of the filter was a breeze. Stick the tool in and off with the hose. Just a little bit of gas dripped and it was clear. Then unclipped the metal clip and tried the front side of the filter. Not as easy. Here I was thinking it was going to be a 30 second job. After wrestling with it for a while I used a pair of pliers to help wedge in the tool into the the metal fitting of the fuel line and finally pop. A bit of gas dripped and collected in my water bottle. Removing the filter from the bracket helped with the process. Assembly was definitely the easiest part. Just 2 clicks and done. Still only took 10 minutes of actual labor. I will never pay for this service again. Thank you all f150online.

Here's what the gas looked like. It was clean from the rear end drippage but from the front it was dirty. I don't get it. Clean gas going in and dirty gas going out to the engine?

Anyways thinking about tearing apart the filter and wondering how to do it without blowing myself up.

That looks like regular clean gasoline to me. Hold that filter with the inlet side pointing straight down and I bet you see much nastier looking stuff come out.

Did the Gotts mod on my truck today. I used PVC because I didnt want to buy 10' of abs pipe. spray painted the pvc black before hand. turned out pretty good in my opinion.

I actually wiped stuff down a little for this picture.

Thanks. I appreciate hearing that. I've gotta tell ya though, if I hadn't have owned a Dremel Tool and not had a lot of time on my hands, 9 hours, I would have sent the kit back! 3 pieces fit perfectly, 4 pieces required some minor fitting, and 2 pieces required a lot of "trial and error" major fitting. A real challenge for this old man!

Ordered a new door handle and lock cylinder (damn thieves). Installed new 3rd brake light (John Boat riding over the cab, towel slipped out. Don't load stuff up when you've been drinking then forget to check it when you leave the next day).
