Official what did you do to your truck today thread.
Yes I did. I traded back in October for a 06 Taurus because I wanted out of debt. About 2 months ago I got this 08 FX4. Still in debt but not as bad.
A Gryphon is a programmer from Power Hungry Performance that u can get custom tunes for.
Three cans of Rustoleum Undercoating - $21.00
Sprayed the wheel wells and part of the frame that was sprayed during the factory paint job in the factory. Looks soo much better...highly recommend this. Completely changed the look of my truck. Have easily had 5 or 6 compliments from people I don't even know in the last week.

Just changed the brakes/brake rotors because it was jumping when I was braking. Going to do a rough sand of the wheel wells and undercarriage this weekend and do it up with Rustoleum bed liner.
Replaced my FPDM this evening. Hopefully, it will cure the intermittent no start problem I've had. It wasn't really corroded like others I've seen. I guess time will tell whether it's fixed it or not.
Replaced the front crash sensor (no more airbag idiot light)
Replaced drivers door check (what a pain in the ***!)
Replaced drivers door window regulator (yay, a working window again!)
Replaced 4WD vacuum solenoid (oh, I wish there were manual hubs available)

Dropped it off at the dealership to get the Pass side exhaust manifold fixed.. Initial estimate was $1060, but a recent call said $1500+ due to a few broken studs they need to drill out.
Hopefully get it back tomorrow.
Hopefully get it back tomorrow.
FINALLY got time to do it, and ran out of light, but here goes...
Started off easy. Took the third brake light off, removed the shrunk and leaking like crazy gasket, and did the RTV sealant thing. Ford REALLY ought to have rubber replacement gaskets available for these things, or maybe some aftermarket company could produce them. There IS a market for them! Maybe the guys that make the cowl end pieces could expand their product line!
Rear shocks replaced with Rancho RS9000s, lower ball joint, and upper control arm on drivers side, replaced stock shock and Autospring leveling kit spacer with Rancho Quick Lift Loaded. Had just barely enough light left to pack it up and button it up get it off the stands (keep the HOA off my butt). Will be busy tomorrow, won't be driving the truck for at least another month (waiting for tax $$ to come in to get alignment and new tires). Will finish passengers side next week...
Not sure why, but with the Rancho Quick Lift Loaded (2.5") the drivers side sits .5" higher than the passengers which still has the Autospring 2.5" level... I am wondering if the stock coils drooped...
Had a few issues during the process...
#1. My impact wrench is a Harbor Freight "Earthquake" 1/2" model. So I suspected it was the problem when removing certain STUBBORN nuts. (Tie Rod, Lower Ball Joint, and Shock Lower bolt), but it took me putting ALL of my 300+ lb fat tail onto a 2 foot breaker bar to get these things to come loose. I am not sure there are many impacts out there that generate 600+ foot pounds of torque! But I got it done. I guess there is one good thing about being fat...
#2. The Moog Problem solver upper ball joint threads for the grease zerk weren't good. I had to chase them with a 7mm tap, which I didn't happen to own. A quick trip to Advance Auto now has a tap and die set in my ownership and a fitted grease zerk.
All told, everything went back together WAY better than it came apart.
God willing by the late spring, the big beast will be ready to hit the roads and trails again. My lovely wife and I have missed out on some good camping and hunting opportunities because of this thing being out of whack...
I just realized my post is reply #2112 in this thread. Now the bigger question. How many of the younguns here will actually know the significance of that number?
