Is it just me or is one side of the bed more pointed than the other? Maybe it had a bedside put on, look at the point at the top, one looks longer than the other

Yea, it does look weird doesn't it? White truck and BAD positioning in the sun, it's almost impossible to tell what it really is like! He should have chosen positions in the shade for both sides, then you'd actually be able to get a handle on what it actually looked like.

this sounds like a silly question, but were you parked on a flat surface?

It's not a silly question at all. You can put most trucks with the wheel on one corner considerably higher then the others and the frame will twist enough to make the bed and cab be misaligned.

I have to agree on the factory alignment is far from perfect. After doing bodywork for 8 years you see it everyday. I notice is no one pays attention to this till after you do a repair for them to look for flaws. I have seen bodyside molding 3/4 of a inch off from one side to the other or crooked 4x4 stickers. You may be able to move the box to even it up but, be very careful. Watch bumper gaps also. Might not get much though with the dumby pins they put by front bolt for quick set from factory. Should move pretty easy though.

My bed was way out of alignment and I bought my truck with 47 miles on it. So they can come from the plant that way.

It takes someone who has done the work to appreciate what you're saying. I have seen people go to a different area of the car than what had damage and then claim it wasn't that way before because they wanted something done for nothing. Why didn't they go to the area that was damaged to look at it? Nope, go to where there was "bad build". Often people swear that "it wasn't that way before" when it is clear that it had to be. As I said, they're MASS produced and when the glow starts to wear off, they begin to see things they never saw before. Especially the U.S. big 3 are FAR from perfect! Used to be a whole lot worse!!!

You wouldn't believe the crap people wanted me to pay for in 30+ years as an insurance adjuster. People didn't look at their cars closely until they had an accident. When they did look after the accident, the found a lot of flaws they tried to blame on the accident. The fit and finish now is far better than it was in the 70s.

Loosen the bolts just as if you were doing a body lift and get a extra hand to help you get it centered and tightin everything back down.....yes it is very easy.

First, CARFAX is only as good as the information provided to them. A repair to any vehicle that is not reported will not show up. I know as my daughters car was struck by a drunk drive (F250) in the rear and was repaired. To date, no info is on the CARFAX.... Secondly, I would loosen the bed bolts to see if you can move the bed around a bit. If the truck has a spray in liner, most liner providers take the bolts out when spraying Ford beds..... Does yours have a spray in..??

No it does not have a spray in liner, its a drop in. When I get a extra hand I will loosen the bolts and try that. No big deal just wondered.
