From 10-12 MPG to 15-16 MPG mixed driving!

I know it's early. Yesterday, I had to get my cats cut out because they were restricted and was causing serious driveablity issues.

I was getting 10-12 mpg mixed driving and horrible acceleration and a p0174. Even worse, when I would push it, I would get horrible detonation. After doing everything I could ( new plugs, Gotts, K&N drop in, Edge set at 2, new fuel filter, clean maf and tb) I finally broke down and took it to Ford for a diagnosis.

Came back as restricted cats, and I don't have the $$$ right now for a new setup so off the cats came.

HUGE difference!!! Both power and mileage!!! I reset the mpg on the truck and Edge. So far, to and from work twice, I am getting 15.5 av mpg on the truck comp and 16.4 avg mpg on the Edge. My supercharged Mustang gets 17.5, while my wifes Mountaneer gets close to 14.

Once I install the dynomax 17748, I will be able to enjoy my truck like I should have been doing all this time!

HELL YEAH!!!

Where'd you put the O2 sensors? If you took out the cats and dropped in some straight pipes, you're going to be throwing a CEL (and code) soon. You'd need to have a custom tune made for you as well to address the problems you'll cause yourself by not having cats and/or disconnecting the O2 sensors... at least, I think.

I am just curious. Let us know what you did. Thanks!

I'm still waiting for the CEL to come on. I did purchase the 18mm spark pplug non foulers and they are ready to be put on once the code gets thrown, but so far so good. The bungs were rewelded in the stock locations on the pipe.
