I've got the 2.5" on my '04, and it is a shave tail high. But nothing like the OEM nose in the weeds stance. I like a SLIGHT rake to a pickup. Ford just puts too much of one on these...
I believe you said you are shooting for an '06, which had a slightly shorter tail height than the '04-'05. I would go with a 2"...
As far as MFGs go, I have had Autospring in mine since '06 no problem at all..

Suspension / ride height should be the same for them. Trim level not relevant. Did you get your Lariat new, or close to new? It's possible the rear springs sagged, or a prior owner swapped the block with a shorter one...
I just measured my truck, and the front is about 2.5" lower than the rear. I will probably do a 2" level. I dont care if its still a tad lower but I deffinitly dont want it higher than the rear.
