Appeal of STX model...

Just curious as to why some choose the STX over the over models. Is it the simplicity and the lack of the flashy chrome stuff?

Im in the market for an 06 and dont know if I should go for an STX or an XLT. At first I only cared about having leather but now I really dont care at all. Not having power locks and windows is gonna take some getting-used-to if I go with the STX but whatever.

Whyd you choose an STX?

I bought an XLT because it had the buttons. If I spend that much money, I want what I want. I think the XLT gives the best blend of cost and equipment.

I have an 05 stx 4.6 4x4.

I don't like chrome.
I liked the painted bumpers.
I liked the simplicity of the truck.
Price was right.
Manual locks aren't a big deal.
Manual windows can be a pain if you want to roll down the passenger side.
Manual locks and windows can be added later though.
I don't like the gauge cluster, going to swap in a nicer one though some day.
I do wish I had the 5.4

The STX is cheaper than the XLT.

I like the painted to match bumpers rather than chrome and love not having carpet inside to worry about and clean. I believe you can get the STX with power windows and locks.

It's really a personal choice for the chrome vs no chrome... I bought my '07 STX new in February '08 " and the price was reduced by $12,000. That sort of made up my mind and I couldn't be more pleased...

I have a STX 2007 model and I have cloth and carpet interior and power everything.. Power windows, power locks and power sideviews I have, but no power or leather seats of course. Dont care about that.. So I really like mine!

Has to be the painted matched parts that really caught my eye and I really wanted it.. I like the painted stuff over chrome anyday.. as well I prefer the FX2s and FX4s before Id get a model with the chrome. The chrome stuff just looks plain to me.

I really enjoy mine, power everything, V8, auto, and has the extra 2 doors that open in the Regular cab model. And a great price.

Look for you an STX in your preferred color and model (2wd/4wd/Reg/Supercab..etc) then try and find one with the cloth interior and power accessories and you'll be happy!

Like Tman said you can get an STX with power everything. The only thing I don't have is carpet which is fine by me. And mine came with Sirius too. In my mind a way better deal on the STX as opposed to the XLT. Hell, there the same just without chrome and carpet.

I am wrong or wasn't the STX a sport package on the 07-03's?
If so how come the 04-08's lost that?
I mean I know that we have the FX2, but hell they had the Lightning...
It seems like the STX used to be the poor man's Lightning,
and now it's just a OEM+ modded XL.

Or am I right, or am I going crazy over here?

I was choosing between an STX and an XLT when I bought mine. The only difference between those 2 were the 5.4 vs the 4.6, chrome bumpers vs painted, electronic 4wd vs manual shift, interior styling and about $100 difference per month in payments. My STX has everything I need: 4wd, power everything, keyless entry, tow package. The STX was a package that gave you a whole bunch of options, compared to an XL, for $2000 and then at the bottom of the sticker price, that $2000 is taken off. So for getting an STX, you got those options for free. I was in a 2010 STX last week and they actually took out a few things that I had on my 08.

I have the 5.4 in my stx with power windows/door locks.

I prefer the painted bumpers as well as the vinyl floors.

I do wish I had the compass and outside temp guage but figured it would be no problem to add these options later.
