Failsafe mode - no SEL

Our 06 has gone into fail safe mode a few times. Each time I double check the coolant and it's fine. Car didn't show any signs of running rough and always started right up and drove with no problems. Also the SEL light didn't come on. Well it happend again today to my wife just after left her parking lot at work. Temp was ok. Checked fluid when she got home and it was ok. I called Ford and have an appointment for Wednesday to have ity checked.

I did a search and found a lot of people had TPS problems and had codes to veryify it. Can places like Autozone pull a code even if the SEL light doesn't come on? Or do I need to pay for $$$$$ to scan it and tell me a $30 part needs to be replaced?

Lie when you take it to Autozone and tell them the light WAS on. If there are any stored generic codes their scanner will find them.
