Ya, last summer I was spending well over 100 bucks each tank. All the pumps have a $75 limit on them so I always have to reset it and pump twice.

Right now I'm doing about $90+ per tank.

Sounds like your brother needs to see the dealership then and get that fixed.

The "liar" gauge?

Do you have one of these "liar" gauges in your 2003 ?

Nope, so what?

Please explain your logic.

I have the info center in my 2006 Lariat and it is dead on for the average MPG. I've done the math on several occasions on trips from 100-1000 miles.

Maybe yours is "dead on" but I've read enough posts here from others who say that it's *NOT* particularly accurate. Not everyone thinks about doing the math to verify the accuracy - in fact, there are probably quite a few members here who don't have a clue HOW to do the math.

So I'm unclear where you get your facts from, unless of course you're one of those who just spout crap without a shred of fact and/or knowledge.

I know how to read threads and other data with an open mind and add to my knowledge. I think you might want to do some research before calling people out on things, just your own experience is not exactly a large data sample.

Yes, at first I was using the "liar" gauge so I had to do a mathematical test; turns out the "liar" gauge is pretty accurate, only off by about 10 miles for the entire tank. The odd thing about this is that when I moved I towed a 12' Uhaul and had the bed of my truck fully loaded (probably about 5500 lbs total, maybe 6k) and I got the same mileage. I guess when it comes down to it I shouldn't complain, it just seemed a little odd that no matter what situation I drove in, my mileage didn't change. I guess my chev colorado did the same thing (glad i got rid of it).
I did check the filter on the truck and it definitely needs replacing, does anyone recommend going aftermarket (K&N) or just sticking with a standard air filter? I'm going to take it to a friend that has a code tester and make sure it isn't throwing anything. I'll also take the time to clean out the throttle body to see if that makes a difference. I'll keep everyone posted if this helps out. The truck already has a Magnaflow exhaust on it (came with it when i bought it) so I can't do that to get a little more distance out of it. Maybe I'll be throwing a CAI on it to get a little more out of it.

The good news is that I only have to put $70 in it to fill it up (right now).

Stick with a standard dry paper filter. Oiled filters can foul the MAF and trade off restriction for filtering ability.

Yeah, it's very accurate. Any difference you saw can ALSO be attributed to the fact that the pumps at a gas station are not the same. Simply meaning that unless you are topping it completely off each time you want to do the MPG figures manually, then the inaccuracy is more than likely due to the differences in when a pump "clicks" off. Plain and simple.

The gauge in the truck has zero variance. It simply tells you how much fuel is being delivered to the engine vs. the mileage accumulated via an average MPG.

Let's see the the forum leeches argue that.

I'm sure one of them will try, but their ignorance always shines through with awesome first hand experiences.

I rest my case. Chill out, dude, we have better things to do than wave our peckers in each other's faces.
