Salvage 2004 F150 XLT Rebuild
Not saying you shouldn't have bought it JM, but I bought the same truck NEW (XLT Super Cab, LOADED) in the middle of the '04 model year for $21k, so the list might have been $30K + but it would be a salesmans dream to sell that truck NEW for $30K.
awesome job on the rebuild man! its great to see someone else saving trucks from the crusher. 3 of my vehicles were saved from salvage yards and my 05 F-150 is the latest one and theyve all been great trucks. check out my build pics here http://s26.photobucket.com/albums/c1...cks/?start=240 i have a total of $8000 into the truck including the truck purchase.

Remember, 04-05 was before the recession, and the low Ford pricing, etc. I remember looking at a 2002 at that time for $25K. I refused to spend $25K for a used truck so I decided to buy a wrecked one.

My brother confirmed that he bought a basic SLT in 2004 for $23,800. How did you get such a good price? Was that with a trade in?
I worked at a dealership when I was in college and saw a lot of dents and bends on vehicles. The owner always told us to remember one thing: When you buy a salvage titled vehicle you're the last owner unless you give it away.
Well, I think that was a bit drastic, but in general you need to really love the truck if you buy it salvaged which you do.
Best of luck on a very nice truck.

One thing about taking it all apart and putting it back together - you know how to fix anything on it now.
