Whats wrong with my truck?

well today, again, i was trying to pass a car and gave the gas a little push and it started jumping on me. it was like it wasnt getting enough gas or something. i already changed the fuel filter but that didnt help. some say its my plugs and wires, some say to through some injector cleaner
what could it be? should i through some injector cleaner and if it doesnt help, change the plugs and wires?

any help appreciated, thanks!

Either of these 6 things:
1. Plugs.
2. Coils.
3. Fuel Pump Module.
4. Fuel Pump.
5. Injectors.
6. Fuel Filter.

I'd try some new plugs and a fuel filter.

Any time you have an issue like that it is either no spark or not enough fuel.

When you are doing that, carefully look at the coils. Look for burnt marks, cracks, and such on the plastic casing. A little neat temp fix I've always found was a round or two of black electricans tape around the tube of the coil. It'll work for a few thousand miles, but I suggest replacing the coil if you notice this ASAP.

I'm assuming you are running an engine that COP style ignition system.

If it has conventional wires, I'd say go with some new Motorcraft wires and spark plugs.

What engine are you running? 256, 281, or 330?

5.4l = 330 cubic inch displacement

You have a coil on plug system. There are no conventional plug wires. Each cylinder has it's own separate coil pack which is a direct connection to the plug.

Here's what your COP for 1 cylinder should look like. It usually takes a torx head or hex head driver to get it off. It's fairly straight forward.

So essentially you don't need wires. However, you will want to carefully inspect the casing for cracks, burn marks, etc. Like I said earlier, if found, especially toward the bottom where the sparkplug will connect, just get some electricians tape and put one or two rounds of it around the COP. But get a new one ASAP. Also, if you have washed the engine recently or you are just lucky to get one of them going bad, you can have them tested too by using a simple timing light. Usually if a COP is going bad, you will have CEL or you will hear engine knock/ping.

If you say so...

I like my 256 4.2l v6... it's so fun to work on. I can change the plugs blindfolded!

My engine is like an overloaded lawn mower engine. I sometimes want to call my truck a Mahindra truck...
