Should i sell it?

Wanted you guys opinion.
I got offered $23K for my 05 F150 FX4 Crewcab 5.4L Fully loaded with 69k miles on it. I have about 25K in it but i know i will never get that. Look at the pics in my album. I am really wanting a duramax (would love to have a p-stroke but way too many problems to deal with for me.) It's in excellent condition and was strictly a street queen. What do you all think, i really want a duramax but i love my truck.

Not for a Duramax. Everyone thinks they dont have problems... My friends Dad had a 02 Duramax(Stock) and he had all kinds of problems with the Allison, when that was fixed the injectors, when that was fixed the allison again, he got tired of it and traded it in.

He let us borrow it for a cabin trip and we lost over drive. I think that year(2002) had all kinds of problems though.

Your truck is sick dude, if you sell it I'll take your head unit!

All I gotta say is why in the world you wanna get rid of that beauty queen, after all that work you put into it.

great looking truck man.

If you tow alot or need the diesel for a useful reason then I would understand.

Allison trannies are good for a bone stock engine, but once you start adding power, they become your worse nightmare. I've heard a few horror stories of the Allison's learning program. If you drive like a grandpa for a long time, then try and hot dog it, the truck will go into limp mode. (just a story I've heard)

I have no use for a truck either but i still have one. Ya know.

You should look at 99-03 P-Strokes. My buddy has a 00 7.3 with the manual tranny and he throws down smoke everywhere we go. Solid axles are cheap to lift, and if you get a nice kit like the one ICON has out right now, it would probably ride just as smooth as a bow tie. Just wouldnt fall apart like one.

I got a 06 XLT with just about 38K on it now, and there is no way I would take anything less than $23,500 for it as it sits, and I can tell you have far more $$ in that truck than I have mine, and mine is a 2WD, anything less than 26 for that truck is not enough.

just FYI I have

New tires ( less than 8K on them) $460
Gryphon $470
DVD player $350
CAI $160
exhaust work $200.
$100 worth of floor mats
Vent visors $40
Grille guard $240
tint on front doors $50
New breaks all around, installed by daddy and me, $110

thats what, $2,000 or so? just in extra parts? no adding in that from the day I got it with 20K miles I have EVERY receipt, the date and time of anything done to it,. Oil changes, tires, everything.
Even wiper fluid, I kept the sales slip, all my cleaning supply's too.

just saying, you would be a fool to take anything less than 26K for that truck.
Not only the extra on it cost money, but what about your time? its worth something.

Keep it. Maybe do something else to it to change it up, like a 6" lift with deeper wheels. Just ideas, but you worked hard to get where it is, don't sell it now. Alternatively, if you are just wanting to get a different vehicle, get a project car or something. Then you could have both. Good luck.

And i totally agree with you on that. But i really dont think anyone would pay 26K for an 05 with almost 70K miles. ya know. I knew going into in that i would never get what i put into back out UNLESS it had alot less miles then maybe. Especially with the economy how it is. A bank will only loan i think its like 21K for my truck and not alot of people have another 5k sitting around.

I know what you mean, but its your truck and you can do what you want with it.
but if it was me, I know what the truck is worth to me, and thats what i would have to get out of it.

just like my dad stood firm on our old 95 expy, at $1,800, until it sold.

Personally, I would ask my self these questions.

1) do I really need a new/different truck?
2) do I really need a diesel?
3) can I afford the extra cost of one? parts and fuel?
4) how much will I have to spend again to get it where I want it?
5) can I find one like I want, in terms of trim level and cab/bed size?
6) would a project car/truck better fit my needs?
7)if I do find one, what does it need? tires? oil change? can I be sure it was well kept?
8) how much if any would my payment be? if you are paying one now, how much more will it be? that payment can be a killer
9) if paying a payment, how much longer will I owe compared to keeping this truck?
10) will my insurance rate change? if so ho much?

There are left over 4x4 09s out there for high 20s.

23k is an amazing price, I bought my 2005 FX4 a year ago with 44,000 for 16,000. I would be happy at getting 16-17k for it now with all the extras. And Kbb lists your truck at $18,800.
