Possibility of 09-10 Rear Bumper Fitting 04-08?

As the title states I'm wondering if anyone can shed some light on weather or not an 09-10 rear bumper would fit an 04-08? I recalled reading several times and even think Rize stated something about the new F150 being wider somehow? (something was slightly different..)

I like the 09-10 bumper because the bumper pad rolls under it eliminating the strip of paint under the step/lic. plate area; plus being 2 pieces if this 'back into me and drive off' garbage happens again I can just replace the side in question.

I personally couldn't see why it would not fit, although I'm not sure how it all goes together being two pieces. I planned on running up to a dealer tonight and taking measurements to see about differences, but this rain/snow mix but a damper on that one.

Yea... It's odd to me too, but kinda makes sense if you look at it from a 'getting damaged' standpoint. However I'm not sure how it can be sturdy and offer protection since the bumper mounts seem to hold either metal piece and the bumper pad makes up for metal in the middle

I'll have to check out what bnkrpt suggested too, The diagram ford shows for the 09+ bumper on most parts site is the diagram for the 04-08 bumper

I'd think Ford would use it as a money making opportunity.

I always thought the bumper was still one piece with plastic that goes down farther in the middle. Learn something every day.
