Key Pad

I own a 2004 Lariat F150, and I was trying to figure out how to change the code on the Key pad that is on the outside of the truck. I bought it from a guy that doesn't remember what the previous code was. If anyone can tell me how to change it, I would be very appreciative...thanks!

First, Hi and welcome.

Second the original 5 digit code is on a sticker on the back wall of the cab behind the seat and under the trim panel on the drivers side. Its on a 3" x 6" black box that is about 6" down from the window.

The instructions are in the owners manual to change the code, actually you are not changing the code you are just adding your own code to the system, the original code is always there and cannot be changed. You will need the original code to be able to add your own code.

Did the previous owner give you the card that has the original code on it, and/or the owners manual? If not, someone will chime in with the link to download the owners manual.

i just did mine....

you type in the original code that the truck is permanently programmed with....
then you hit the 1-2 button...
then you type in your five digit code...
after that the locks should lock and then unlock....after that youre done!

If you do not have the factory code and need to remove the seat back try this...I had the same problem when I bought my 04 lariat. The solution for me was to remove the back of the back seat. Behind there is the module with the factory code on it. It really is that easy. Be patient trying to get the seat out. it took a few trys for me. But after you do it, you will see how easy it is to remove. This is a detailed link on how to remove the seat back. After reading this and thinking it is way to comlicated...just reach around the side of the seat back and pull the tab foward by hand.
