Whether it is or not, the rental contract doesn't allow you to take it off paved roads.

If it is an Unlimited it could be 2 wd. The Unlimited has been available in 2wd, since 2007.

We rented a jeep in cozumel to cruise around the island and it was 4x4, I barely trusted the thing to paved roads much less dirt or any loose gravel.

See which company did you rent from and no it's the 2 door model. I know we can't but I was just wondering. Just in case

All models before 4 door where 4 wheel drive to my knowledge. I wouldn't recommend off-road unless its a well maintained dirt rode. I have grown up around jeeps all my life, they are good for off-road but take a lot of modifications to get them to that point.
