Making a Newbie post... N/A Mods for 5.4 3v

So it looks like my old man is picking up a 2006 Screw of my grandfather's who just passed away this past Saturday.

I gave my grand father my OLD Superchips Tuner when I went boosted.

I'm looking to get it similar mods that I had for the most fuel economy and get up and go.

1. What CAI is preferred now days? Is the "Gott's" mod really just as good?
2. Does anyone remember what BBK under-drive pulley's off mustangs work that were $100 instead of the $250+ Troyer charges or what not?
3, Has anyone tried the new 2010 factory electric fan setup on the older 04-08 trucks? Would be nice to have a factory designed unit. If nothing else I'll pick up another LS1 setup.
4. I'm thinking about swapping my 4.11 gears in my truck for the 3.73's in this one.
5. Has anyone ran long tubes, high flow cats, and a stock cat back? I don't want the truck loud at all, just get the extra power and torque.

What else are you guys doing besides heads/cam work?

I know before with that SuperChips, Air Aid intake, BBK under-drive pulleys, ls1 electric fans, rear cat delete, Magnaflow cat back, and 4.11 gears I was cranking nearly 22mpg on the highway cruising 75mph, and running consistent low 14's in the summer.

You haters that are claiming this is snake oil are just upset you paid $400 for a tuner that doesn't improve even half the power and MPG this simple $20 box is doing.
Why do you need all that other stuff?

Just messing with you. I had to remove the crank pulley on my 2008 to install the earlier model pulley because the later model pulley didn't have provision for bolt holes. I can take some measurements off the old pulley for you if that helps to find a cheaper alternative.

Justin, I would not use the Stock muffler. It's restrictive. I would get a large body magnaflow. So say LT's with 94306 maggie hi flows and then a 22" maggie. Best performance is going to be with 2.25 true duals N/A so that would be my recommendation there. Hell Borlas might be a good bet if the $$ as they are even better performing than our maggies.

Yeah I know the stock is restrictive. I just basically won't no noise in the cab(the least as possible anyway). are those 22" maggies pretty quite?

I'll probably just run 2.5 anyway...If my Vortech doesn't sell I might just slap it on his truck.

That would be cool...

My main concern is droan in the cab while cruising.

When I had my 04 with stock cats and the magnaflow bolt on cat back it was perfect. Heard the rumble when floored, but no droan in the cab while cruising/towing.

That is what I'm looking for...

The old man is a hot rodder, and mother is also, but still they don't want a loud setup like my truck is.

Those 24" that would probably be ideal. OBX long tubes, with some high flow cats, running two of those 24" will still get the flow but keep the "quiteness."

If that's the case then I would forget about headers. They will add to much volume I bet. I would go with large body magnaflow and maybe hi flow cats, but ultimately the best gains are going to be seen with a tuner. Darren has said he did decent on gas with 2.5" true duals on the highway but he wishes he went with 2.25 for over all. It will perform better down low and increase the power across the band from what everyone has said. Headers and the true duals might be ok, esp if you get the 24" ers, but I can't say for sure without actually hearing it

Hmmm, Maybe it will be ok, if they do like some growl. I'm really not sure. But if you do hi flows def do the 94306 and not the 94106

Pshhh gotta have headers!

I guess I'm not saying ANY droan, as long as you can talk with a normal voice, and just turn the radio on you won't hear it. 24" maggies with tail pipes out the back should be just right. I would imagine a open CAI would be what you would hear the most...

Which is the reason I'll probably looked for a sealed closed box "CAI".

Hmmm.... I wonder if that would help my truck.

Running just the Resonators cruising 75-80mph it gets a little loud in my truck.
