Red face Gauge Cluster Swap; I need help guys...

Okay, I bought a cluster from a member on here awhile ago.
Canadian style XLT Cluster (It reads in km/h)

Pics for clicks:

So I don't have any problem with the cluster, I just don't have a clue on where to go to get it installed. Here's my problem (cause I've been hearing a lot of different things, and I'm truly confused...)

I've heard;
  • The cluster stores your odometer reading
  • If the miles don't match (the cluster and the ecu) the truck will throw codes
  • The miles are stored in the ecu and this is a "plug & play" install

I don't know what's true.
I do want the mileage to read correctly, if I can't get it right on the new cluster then I probably won't install it. I want to do this right, like it came from the factory that way.

I you guys have swapped clusters and I can't imagine that you'd be okay with wrong mileage on your $30,000 truck.

Can anybody help me out, I'd love to get this in ASAP.

Thanks!

To start I hAve done this.
Its plug and play it works BUT the mileage displayed is what the cluster has stored, reguardness of whAt your ecu pc or whatever hAs stored.
The cluster has to be programmed. No ford cannot do this, maybe some dealers can but is not a ford thing. I went to a speedometer shop outside Detroit that fixes clusters and rAdios. It cost me $100. And I got documented proof it was changed at a registered facility.

And my new cluster did not code when the mileage was wrong. I drove around all day to make sure it worked before I had it programmed.
I don't know what will happen bc you have a canadian one. Likely nothing. Plug it in and drive around to find out.

You are awesome!
Anyway you could get me the info for that shop?
I'd like to give them a call, maybe I could mail it to them or something.

Thank You!

Hey City of Champs - I am about to do the LT cluster swap. I have the LT cluster and I have a Lariat surround with the controls. I have done numerous searches and can't find and detailed wiring info. I'm not that good when it comes to electrical. Do you have any notes or detailed info regarding the wiring for the added controls?
